Next Generation...in NARNIA {finished}

chap 12! the ball - part 2

the celebration was held at the mayors mansion. when they arrived there was a centaur standing at the entrance to make sure any unwanted visitors didn't come in.

Naomi, alaura, tom and john stood silently behind Philip who showed the invitation to the scary looking centaur. the centaur examined it carefully, he let them through but seemed a little hesitant about it. they quickly but subtly rushed inside before the centaur could change his mind.

once they were inside they gawked with awe. the hall they were standing in looked magnificent, there were so many rich looking people in fancy clothes, the decorations were all top notch and there was a table laid out with very fancy and expensive looking foods.

at the very back of the room there was a massive throne and in that throne sat a woman with extremely pale skin and dark red hair that was tied up. She was surprisingly very short and the complete opposite of the witch that most of their parents once fought back in Narnia.

"Who's that? Is she a queen" Asked Naomi

"That's the red witch but she does like to refer to herself as 'the queen if gnarnia'. Try to avoid her and her guards tonight, if she finds out that you are the children of prophecy it could ruin everything" he whispered so that no one could eaves drop

In the middle of the great hall there was a giant golden statue of a mountain for decoration.

"Do you really think the writing could be on that statue? Could it really be that simple?" Alaura thought out loud

"Well I guess there's only one way to find out" answered Philip "tom and Naomi the two of you go take a good look, the rest of will stay here so its not too suspicious"

they did as Philip instructed but the only thing they could find was the word MOUNTAIN carved in thick letters

"so what now?" Naomi asked tom

"i don't know" he answered truthfully

they were both a little disheartened but i guess it only made sense.

the answer to the third sign couldn't have been in such plain sight where anyone could read it.

but instead of leaving Naomi and tom stayed by the golden statue running their fingers across its cool surface, trying to find anything that could've possibly been of use to them

they were just about to completely give up on the golden statue until something caught tom's eye.............

meanwhile Philip, alaura and john were watching them from a far. they were trying to figure out what was going on but the look on tom and Naomi's faces were blank.

then suddenly the person that they least wanted to see was standing behind the clueless tom and Naomi.

the others tried to signal them to get away but they weren't paying attention and soon it was too late................................

Tom stared closely to little markings that were carved inside the letter M

"Naomi look at this" he said tapping her shoulder to get her attention

She looked closely at the small words and was just able to make out what they said

"my children, i knew you would be able to make it this far but now the only thing that will help you get to the next step of your journey is if you do not deny me. Someone in your near future will ask you of your belief, just answer truthfully and you will be rewarded more than you know -- aslan" Naomi read the small carvings aloud

Then Tom felt a small vibration in his pocket and he knew at that moment that they found what they were looking for.

He pulled the rock out of his pocket but strangely this time only half of the third sign was crossed off. Just the part that stated 'you will find writing on a mountain'

Then suddenly Tom felt someone's hot breath whirling at the back of his neck

He turned around and almost had a heart attack when saw the red witch staring back at him with wide and sturdy eyes

"Young man" she said I'm a crude voice but before Tom could gain any courage to answer Philip, Alaura and John had made there way over to Tom and Naomi's side

"I'm terribly sorry your majesty" Philip bowed "but may I have a word with these two" he put his hands on Tom and Naomi's shoulders

The witch seemed like she was about to object but luckily one of her guards had come wanting to speak with her

"Very well" she said and Philip dragged the children away

"That was a close one" sighed Philip "did you find anything?"

"Yes, we found a message from aslan" Naomi said "it says to get to the next step of our journey we have to tell the truth when someone asks us what our beliefs are"

"But how are we sure that's the answer to the third sign" asked Alaura

"Because, once Naomi read the message this happened to the rock" said Tom showing the others the rock

"okay, now that, that's sorted lets get out of here" Philip said

"NOT so fast!!!" the witch had unfortunately come back and now there was no way of escaping "i still want to talk to that young man, and that young lady" she said pointing at tom and Naomi

not knowing what else to do they nodded and stepped forward.....................................................
