Spider

Lonely spider,

glaring eyes,

staring in dread surprise.

Clinging fingers; limbs arch-stretched,

shaping webs, it spins its threads.

Crossing doorway, semicircle,

framing hallways, daring you to go by.

Busy fingers, busy feet,

the thin veil that clings to your face;

lacing the outlines with its (fingery) trace

But don't be frightened by its lovely patterns

and don't be afraid to go out at night.

Lonely spider,

watchful eyes,

waiting for prey, it hides.

It is its nature,

to captivate and capture

with its eerie essence

you stand in its sight.
