(Name) stepped out of her mom’s car and shut the door behind her.

“Have fun at school (Name),” her mom said from behind her. “Call me when you’re ready to leave.”

“Okay mom,” (Name) responded before turning back and going into her new school. She hoped her first day wouldn’t be too bad, or at least not as bad as it was in her previous school. She never really liked it there anyway, and no one ever really liked her.

That’s why her mom thought she should move from (y/home state) to (state of your choice) and change schools. Her mom was hoping that (Name) would make some friends if she moved to another school and started over.

(Name), however, thought it was pointless. She sucked at trying to have conversations, and she was really shy. Any friend she every had in the past had either moved away later or drawn away from her by the popular crowd. What was the real point in trying? Getting her mother to stop pestering her about it, she guessed.

(Name) sighed and walked into her new school, received her class schedule from the lady at the office, and went to find her homeroom class, which was also her first period. Biology. She wasn’t too bad in Biology so she guessed she could deal with that.

She found her homeroom class after walking down a bunch of hallways until she found the room number that matched the one shown on her schedule. The teacher stopped in in the middle of taking attendance and looked to the doorway when (Name) walked in.

“Just in time,” said the teacher. “Class, this is our new classmate (Name). Why don’t you introduce yourself?”

(Name) nodded and walked to the front of the class. “I’m (Name) (L/Name),” she said as the other students looked her way. She could tell no one really cared except for only a couple of people at the back.

The teacher examined his seating chart then looked back to (Name) “You’ll be sitting next to Francis Bonnefoy, in the back row.”

The one called Francis smiled and winked at (Name), making her blush a little, but she brushed it off. She started to make her way to the back row when she heard remarks and giggles from her other classmates.

“Poor girl,” she heard a couple people say.

“She has to sit next to the perverted rapist,” came from others.

The remarks from other classmates didn’t go unheard by Francis, and she watched as his friendly smile quickly fade into a frown.

(Name) kinda felt sorry for him. She wanted to make him feel better, but she didn’t know him at all so she thought she would only make him feel more uncomfortable. So instead she just sat down next to him quietly.

The boy on the other side of Francis rubbed his shoulder to comfort him. “Don’t listen to them Francis. They’re just being mean.”

Francis smiled sadly at his friend. “Merci Matthew. But that doesn’t make it hurt any less.”

The boy named Matthew sighed and hugged Francis. (Name) thought it was sweet that they cared so much for each other, but she went back to minding her own business when class had finally started.

Finally, it was time for lunch. (Name) grabbed her lunch box and headed to the cafeteria, with her notebook folded into her arms. She scanned the cafeteria for an empty table, or at least an empty seat.

She saw Matthew and Francis sitting together near the back. Francis was smiling and listening to Matthew as he talked to him. (Name) was glad to see that he was smiling again.
