Beneath the Dragon's Skin

Chapter V

     It had been two weeks since [Your Name] met Lukas and his younger brother Emil. Lukas would go and visit his new mythical friend pretty much every day. Although he wouldn't bring Emil so often; due to his chores to help tend to the farm animals and train with someone in their family called, 'Matthias'.

     Every day, [Your Name] and Lukas would tell stories, read the books he brought with him, and train.

     Yes, I said train. Since the first time Lukas met the dragon, he decided that their defense wasn't exactly the best, and confronted them about it.

     [Your Name] informed him that their family was attacked when they were young and somehow had to learn how to fend for themself. They also told him that the only thing they knew how to do was breathe fire and sing hymns.

     It was then decided that Lukas would thereon help her train to "become a better dragon", which [Your Name] was taken slightly offended by.

●♡°•~Magical time skip to the present brought to you by a magical narwhal (Idk)~•°♡●

     A sound of metal on nail pierced the air as Lukas blocked the dragon's claw attack with his longsword. [Your Name] blew fire at his form, but he blocked with his wooden shield. After the flames stopped Lukas immediately dropped his flaming shield on the ground in defeat.

     "Hey, [Your Name]!" Shouted Matthias obnoxiously from the sidelines. "Is breathing fire the only thing you can do?"

     Lukas looked at the other viking and said, "Oh my god, Matthias; you can't just ask people if breathing fire is the only thing they can do." (See what I did there? No? Okay...)

     How the hell did Matthias get here, you ask? Well, after a while of visiting each other, Lukas finally decided to bring Matthias to meet [Your Name] since he kept begging to see them. Although, that was before he found out that they were a dragon and attempted to kill them (thinking that Lukas' new friend was an "evil bloodthirsty dragon"). It had taken 20 minutes to calm Matthias down.

     "No, it's fine Lukas," the reptile reassured him. "Let me teach him if breathing fire is, 'the only thing I can do'."

     At their words, Lukas smirked and moved out of [Your Name]'s way.

     "Uhh, [Your name]?" Matthias asked, his face turned from carefree to serious, then slightly terrified. "W-what are you going to do?"

     Instead of answering him, the [Favorite Color]-scaled dragon started to sing a hymn.

     Lukas hadn't seen or heard his friend sing since the spear incident and this one wasn't as soft and light as the other one. This one was slightly dark. 

     When the hymn was finished, the dragon turned to Matthias (who looked ready to pee his pants) and took a deep breath. [Your Name] breathed out fire.

     The fire they breathed out was very hot, navy blue, and consisted of many different designs. The flames darted out to Matthias and nearly licked his nose.

     Lukas was amused, Matthias looked just about ready to pass out, and the dragon showed a smug grin on their face.

     "[1]Hellige lort! Y-you know, I just remembered that I promised Sve that I would help him fish and you know how he is when I'm late. You understand, right Norge? Yes? Awesome. See ya!" Rushed the Danish man before he quickly ran off.

     After watching Matthias disappear into the distance, [Your Name] and Lukas went inside the cave to read.

●◇°•~Time skip to a couple of minutes~•°◇●

     After flipping through pages and such, something caught the dragon's [Eye Color] eyes. 

     "Lukas, wait," they told him. "Go back a couple pages."

     The Norwegian male did as instructed and [Your Name] whispered, "An Opal..."

     Lukas scrutinized the page. "Oh, yeah... This is an ancient stone that grants one wish and one wish only to one individual. In fact, it's probably still there—in the cave it's hidden in, I mean," He explained to them.

     The eyes of the reptile widened as an unexpected thought hit them like a brick—Human. I could be human. (~If we were human again, oh yes human again~ lol moment ruined.) If [Your Name] became human, they could finally see all the things that Lukas told them about his village, taste the foods, see different people without fear and anger in their eyes, and maybe... Be able to build a relationship with another.

These ideas filled a new, sudden passion in the dragon's heart. I have to find this Opal.
