Darkfire returned to camp, her heart singing. She barely noticed the water swirling around her paws as she emerged through the thorn barrier.
Fuzzyfeather bounded up to his Clanmates, excitedly explaining the news.
Darkfire felt her eartips burn as Fuzzyfeather pointed his tailtip at her.
A couple cats left the group and padded toward her to congratulate her. "Fuzzyfeather is an amazing cat. I know you've always loved him," Whitewhisker purred.
Darkfire followed her gaze. She was staring at a silver tom who was boasting about catching a squirrel bigger than him. "Rainstrike," she murmured. Oh my StarClan! Whitewhisker loves him...!
But the white medicine cat had already gone to her den.
A muzzle nudged her shoulder. "Congrats, Darkfire," Mousewhisker purred. "You're one lucky cat!"
She nodded absently to the gray-and-brown she-cat. "Thanks, Mousewhisker."
She nodded and left Darkfire standing alone. The glossy furred warrior waded toward Fuzzyfeather, and pressed her flank to his. "Share a rabbit?"
"Of course!"
