I wouldn't hold my breath if I was you

Cos' I'll forget but I'll never forgive you
Don't you know, don't you know?
True friends stab you in the front
It's funny how
Things work out
Such a bitter irony
Like a kick right to the teeth
It fell apart
Right from the start
But I couldn't even see
The forest for the trees
(I'm afraid you asked for this)
You got a lot of nerve
But not a lot of spine
You made your bed
When you worried about mine
This ends now
I wouldn't hold my breath if I was you
Cos' I'll forget but I'll never forgive you
Don't you know, don't you know?
True friends stab you in the front
I wouldn't hold my breath if I was you
You broke my heart & there's nothing you can do
And now you know, now you know
True friends stab you in the front
It's kind of sad
Cos' what we had
Well it could of been something
I guess it wasn't meant to be
So how dare you
Try and steal my flame
Just cos' yours faded
Well hate is gasoline
A fire fueling all my dreams
(I'm afraid you asked for this)
You can run
But you can't hide
Time won't help you
Cos' karma has no deadline.

Can I just start out, Bring Me The Horizon's new album, "That's the Spirit", is just...it's amazing.  "True Friends" and "Throne" are easily my favorite "singles" off the album.  Now, I didn't really know BMTH during their years of playing deathcore.  I was aware of their singles like "It never ends" and "Pray for Plagues" but to say I was a dedicated fan (like I am now lol), probably wouldn't be accurate.  However, I listened to "Blessed with a Curse" and after that.  Fuck it.  I was hooked.  When their album Sempiternal was released it renewed my love for the band and added some spark to that love.

Anyway "True Friends".  The lyrics are pretty straight forward in my opinion.  "True friends stab you in the front".  I mean, what's not to get about that?  I find this song to be a lot about how you and a friend had a pretty good relationship together.  Over time, shit happened and they ended up hurting you in some way.  At that point, I feel like people are really sensitive to whatever was done to them.  So at that point, yeah, it would be totally understandable to "forget but never forgive" them.  I've had my fair share of shitty "friends" and I would be lying if I said that I have forgiven them and things are all happy and fun now.  Though I don't have them in my life anymore, their impact on my life...is my life...Hopefully that wasn't too confusing lol But yeah, I totally dig this song and I feel like lyrically it's totally relateable.  I just want to submit to anyone though that even if someone has done something to wrong you, it doesn't mean you have  to go on hating them forever.  I mean, if whatever happened was like...fucking terrible, I get it.  And I'm not asking anyone to forgive everyone they see.  I'm just saying that acknowledge that.  "That shit just happened".  It did, it happened.  But don't get stuck in that mindset of reminding yourself of all the bad shit.  Take some time to acknowledge it, seek someone that you know will help you if it's too much for you to handle alone, and find a way to move on.  In the end, your well being is all that counts.

I feel like I'm a fucking therapist.  What. The. Fuck. #notatherapist Totally just speaking from opinion here.
