Heartbreak..
Love..
Family..
Two high school sweethearts fall in love and have a child togther, but are they meant to be a family? Read this book to see if Erica Jackson and Isaiah Wright find love in the end or if the feelings are all for nothing.
A whole year has gone by and little to no contact has happened between Erica and Isaiah only about Kayden, nothing more or nothing less. Erica was too busy doing her own thing to even reflect on the stupid-ness Isaiah has done. She even got a new boo, but how that came about would have to be told later. All that mattered was that Erica was treated right. Today was Kayden's birthday and Erica took the day off from school and work to set up for the best party Kayden could have being that it is his first birthday ever.
Isaiah, on the other hand, thinks constantly about the dumb ass decision he made. Now that he's out here he realized that he fucked up big time. He tries to talk to Erica about getting back together but she refuses to talk about it at all the only thing she talks about is Kayden and with his first birthday coming up he had to be there. Little did he know that Erica's new boyfriend was going to be at this party.
Taylor and Shamika were currently at the venue that rented out for Kayden's party. "How are y'all doing?" Erica asked as they added the finished touches to Kayden's blue and white themed party. "I'm doing okay. It still hurts that CJ chose going out to Cali over me, but I'm finally dealing with it. How are you doing?" Taylor replied to Erica.
"I'm starting to really like Jamal, he's a sweet person and he respects that I wanna take things slow, he even accepts the fact that I'm not fully over Isaiah not that I ever think I will be." Erica sighed. She hated how things turned out but everything happens for a reason. She still cries sometimes at night wishing that he made the right choice, but maybe it was a test of their love.
Shamika felt bad that her friends had to go through all that pain because of the dickheads they loved. Even though she was single she stayed by both of their sides the whole time during their crisis because it was too much for them to handle on their own.
An hour later...
Everyone was dressed for Kayden's party everything was just the way Erica wanted it to be. Soon people started arriving mostly kids from the daycare Kayden went to while Erica was at work. She didn't want to trouble her mom with Kayden even though she didn't mind watching her grandson.

"Hey, baby!" Kiesha spoke as soon as she spotted Erica and Kayden. "Hey, momma!" Erica smiled after she gave her mother a tight squeeze. "GG!" Kayden yelled when he seen his grandma. "Happy Birthday baby!" She told him giving him his present. "Tank you!" He smiled giving the bag to his mother and then running off to play with his friends.
Erica
"You think he's gonna show up?" My mom asked me. "Honestly I don't know I texted him the address last week when he asked about it. He tried to talk about getting back together I just ignore it because I think Jamal and I are getting pretty serious now." I informed my mother. "I hate that he made the wrong decision honey maybe it was for the best."
"Hey, baby!" Jamal smiled as he walked up to me. "Hey, babe. How are you?" I asked after I pecked him on the lips a couple times. "I'm good how are you?" "I'm doing good glad that I'm not planning this party anymore that's for sure." I laughed.
"Take a picture with me, baby." Jamal smiled as I kissed his cheek while he snapped three pictures of us. "Hey um, Erica?" I heard someone say my name. I slowly turned around to face Isaiah he looked so damn fine in his polo button up shirt and slacks. "Um, Isaiah?" I asked still shocked that he actually showed up. "I'll let y'all catch-up." Jamal pecked my lips and then walked away.
"So you moved on that fast?" He asked bluntly. "No, I haven't fully moved on I still love your dumb ass." I mumbled and he smiled. "No need to get all happy I'm perfectly fine where I am Jamal and I are working on our relationship. Just let me be happy Isaiah I don't want to be let down anymore." She told me and my heart broke into a million little pieces. "I understand." was all he said.
"Momma!" Kayden came running up to her. "Dada?" Kayden questioned. "Yeah, son it's dada." He smiled when Kayden reached out to him. It warmed my heart to see Kayden and Isaiah interacting with each other in person and not always over the phone. "How long are you gonna be here?" I asked. "Til the weekend. Why?" "You can keep him until then," I suggested so he can spend some kind of time to him. "Okay sounds good." He smiled as he let Kayden run off and play with his friends.
Isaiah
Seeing Erica in person just made my heart race like we were in high school. Seeing her with her new boyfriend just made my heart shatter but it can't blame anyone but myself because it's all my fault. I've tried to move on from Erica, but something tells me that's where my heart belongs and maybe one day we'll end up getting back together.
Hours later...
The party had ended and I was exhausted from cleaning after the party was over. "You can follow me home to get things for Kayden okay?" Erica told me. "Yeah, that's fine," I mumbled when I seen her and Jamal holding hands as they walked to her car. That's supposed to be me and were supposed to be a family having fun and doing things as a family, but I fucked all of that up by following my dreams.
"Here's his bag and don't forget to give him his medicine at nine o' clock sharp." Erica reminded me as I held Kayden while she packed and informed me of everything I needed to know while I kept Kayden for the weekend. "Alright," I responded. "Bye baby! Momma loves you!" Erica cooed as she kissed Kayden all over his face before giving him back to me. "Be safe guys and call me if anything happens!" She yelled as we walked to the car. "Okay!" I yelled back laughing at how protective she was over Kayden.
The drive to my mom's house wasn't long at all. I spent some time with Kayden before I gave him his medicine and he passed out like a light. When I laid him down on my bed I just looked at him and thought about all the wrongs I've made in life. After saying my nightly prayers to God I crawled in the bed and made sure Kay was comfortable and then I let sleep consume my body.
