Chapter 29

Isaiah

We got to see Kayden even though he was still asleep. He looked peaceful like nothing was troubling him anymore. I don't want my son walking the streets anymore because of stuff like this.

"Well I'm going home so I can get ready for work. Call me if anything happens." I told Erica giving her a side hug and a kiss on the cheek. "Okay Isaiah be careful." She told me then snuggled into Mr. Bodybuilder.

What does she even see in that nigga? I bet he the one who introduced Kayden to the streets. I bet he a drug dealer his own self. Look at him.

Then look at my baby.

She never fails to kill it. I love her with everything with me. That's supposed to be my wife. I can't believe I messed this up. I can't help but to think if only I stayed here with her instead of going off to California.

5:46 p.m.

I had just gotten off of work

Erica had told me that Kayden was awake. Although he was in a lot of pain his vital signs were looking fine and he would make a full recovery. She also told me that they kept questioning him on who shot him and he kept saying some drug dealer but they couldn't really understand him at that moment.

Erica endangered our son by throwing him out, but I can only be mad at her for so long. Maybe this is a wakeup call that we need to get it together because I can't loose my family.

I'm currently on my way to the hospital to see Kayden just to make sure he's alright even though I know he is.

"Hey can you tell me where Kayden Wright is. I'm here to see him I'm his father." I asked the lady at the front desk. "Room 204 on the second floor. Hurry cause visiting hours almost up." She told me while smacking on whatever she was eating. I just shook my head and went to the elevators up to the 2nd floor.

Once I got to Kayden's room he was sitting up watching tv. "Hey kid. How you feeling?" I asked. "Like shit." He mumbled. "Kayden ion know what's up with you, but Imma need you to get it together." I told him sternly while taking a seat. "If you came to lecture me the door is that way." His raspy voice whispered to me.

Damn my own son didn't want to see me. "Kay I didn't come to lecture you I came to see of you were doing okay. I thought I lost you man. My only son." I confessed tearing up a little. "Dad. I'm fine." He told me. "Yeah, but I just want the best for you. What makes you act like this? Wanting to do drugs and stuff?" I asked. "Honestly hanging with the wrong crowd, but now my nigga gone so I'll be back to my good self." He cracked a smile.

I stayed for about 15 more minutes just talking to him before the nurse came in to change his wound dressing and told me to leave. "I'll see you tomorrow." I said kissing his forehead and then leaving.

Erica

"We need to find who did this to those boys." I told Kane. We were at a burger shop eating dinner for the night. "I know baby. I know people so we'll take care of it." He said. "How you know people? You on the streets too? You shot my son?" I asked question after question.

"Woah wait." He said cutting me off. "What I look like shooting your son." He said. "You right." I said. He never seen Kayden before so he wouldn't know. Or could he? Whatever it is I'm getting to the bottom of it.

10:34 p.m.

I finally got home and settled in bed texting Kane goodnight and that I made it home safely. After texting him back and forth I finally put my phone down only for Isaiah to call.

“Hey um I know its late, but I just wanted to let you know that I thank you for having my son and I'm glad you still keep in contact with me even though we're not together." And even though you not mine anymore I wish you the best although it breaks my heart. I just wanted you to know this. I love you Erica so much. Bye.” He spoke and then hung up. I was too tired to even think about why he called and told me that.

Kayden

Being in this hosptial sucks man. All I do is sit in here and eat this nasty ass food and watch tv. The nurses all ugly so I can't flirt with them to get real food.

Big T dumb ass did it, but will I ever tell? Nah I'm not no snitch. I heard my bro got killed they really killed my bro man.

The only thing on my mind is getting revenge and revenge is what Imma get.
