the scent you carried reminded me of my childhood

the scent was nicotine.

you said you were disgusted by it

just like I was disgusted by my childhood.

' i would never put my child through that' I said.

after that conversation, talking formed into friendship and friendship turned into dating

two years later honeymooning turned into a sweet baby girl.

three years later daddy was a drunk

and mommy was an addict.

another year passed by

another year of yells and screams and beatings and cries.

she then suddenly died and he mourned with the daughter

and as she was lay to rest, he walked past her coffin

and he could still smell the nicotine.
