I look down at the body, Why the hell do I have to examine this rotting pile of flesh. I get it I am student body president, I know a lot of kids. But I don't want to see this.

"Emmeline, We created a sketch of what he may have looked like." The head sheriff of Aldrie, which literally translates to Never Ever, says.

I sigh and look at the photo. He does look familiar but like he was from the blank time. There was a small section of my life I completely forget he feels distance like he is from the blank spot. "He is familiar but, no I don't know him."

"Okay. Thank you any way." He sighs.

"No prob." I say and walk out of the corners and out of the police station.

My best friend Juliet is waiting outside. All of our names here are ancient, no one here has even thought about leaving this town before me, but the menacing mountains would be a long hike.

"Hey Jules." I say.

"So." She links arms with me as we walk towards school. "Did ya know him, Do I know him."

"No, but..." I stop debating weather to tell her or not.

"But what," She asks.

" Nothing." I sigh. "It is just weird, I mean- They think it was an accident."

"Yeah Em, no one accidentally burns themselves at a state park. Plus no one has filed a missing person's report or anything." Jules sighs. "We should have at least got a day of school off for all of this."

"Jules, someone is dead and you want a day off school." I say flatly.

"To far?" I just laugh as we walk into the school.

Jules leaves me halfway down the hall. I have coding and she has Honors Statistics. In the friendship she is the smart one and I am the nerdy, tech person. That would make most people this I am a loner, but I actually have a lot of friends.

I get to my class two minutes before the late bell rings and sit in my normal spot next to the school's smartest kid, Noah Zimmerman.

"Hey, Emmeline." He whispers.

"Hi Noah?." He is usually the type of person who ignores people with a lower I.Q than him. Which is everyone.

"I heard you saw...You know, him." He still talks in his lowered voice.

"Noah, what do you want." I say in a normal voice.

"I find it weird that a town that has a never changing population and no tourists can have an unidentified body, don't you."

"Accidents happen."

"You can believe that if you want but it isn't true. They are hiding something."

"Who are they, Noah."

"The people that make all of us stay here, except me and you we actually think different. we wanna get out. Don't you see that."

"Noa-"

"We can figure this out, come on a classic mystery."

The late bell rings and Noah turns away.

"Just think about it, before the next body turns up."

After hours of classes, its lunch. I met my friends and Juliet at our normal spot.

"Hey Em!" They wave me over.

"Emmiline Jakobs, Student Body President, Hacker, Coder, Burned body specialist." Nathaniel Laughs at his own joke.

"Shut up, Nate." I say pushing my way into my normal spot.

"What it's not everyday my best friend sees a dead body." I pull out my PC and roll my eyes.

"I thought I was your best friend." Nate's girlfriend, Rebecca, hits him.

"You're my girlfriend Becca."

"Oh." She sighs.

I start to look online for things related to what Noah said, I couldn't stop thinking about it.

"Ah, Emmy." My best friend since Pre-school comes up behind me. "Always on a computer." He slams the laptop shut.

"Not funny, Kerian! What if I was in the middle of something, important!" I say upset.

"You weren't though."

He laughs and then digs into my lunch to find food.

Maybe 10 minutes later, a small shock goes through the ground.

"Woah." Jules says.

Then another after that one something fall off the roof of the school and right next to our table. It was a girl. She was torn apart , and...dead.

I stand up along with the rest of our table.

"See," I flip toward a voice and see Noah's green eyes. "They will keep coming."

He starts to walk away. "Noah. Wait." I sigh, "When should we meet."

"5 o'clock today and bring your idiot." He nods his head towards Keiran.

I sigh. "Keiran."

"What."

"W-we need to talk."

"Is this more important then that body that just fell from the roof." He asks.

"Yes, and it has something to do with it."

"What are you talking about Emmeline." He stares at me.

"Meet me at 4:30 over by the toll bridge, okay."

"Oh-Okay." He stutters out.

Somehow, Noah, Keiran and I are gonna fix this. I just don't know how.
