Remembering

Once I stepped over the town line memories swarm me, and who I was comes flooding back:

My brother Peeta, my parents who hated me, my other siblings. The hunger games, the year I got picked. I was 14, I knew I was going to die. Keiran was from district 4 he was in the games the same year as me. We fell in love. Then I watched him die, and so I let a boy from district 2 kill me and win. What was a life going to be without him.

I refocus on the present and look over at Keiran, he opens his eyes obviously still trying to grasp his thoughts on what he remembers.

"Keiran," I gasp. It's like looking at a whole new person, he isn't my dorky beat friend anymore.

"Em!" He runs over to me and kisses me.

I pull away a little "I don't ever want to forget you again." I smile before kissing him again.

"Hey guys," Finnick calls out "sorry but can we save the reunion for later, kinda have a county to save."

"Oh. Yeah." I didn't really get know Finnick but Keiran knew him well.

"Finnick." He goes over and hugs him.
"You died?"

"Yeah I will tell you all about it on the way to 14." He says.

"Not to be rude or anything," I say. "But there is no district 14."

"That's what we have to catch up on."

"You two are both very smart," Finnick starts as we venture through dark woods to go to "14". "So I hope you can grasp this. After you died, a lot happened. Em, your brother Peeta went into the hunger games a year after the two of you. He survived, along with another tribute Katniss Everdeen."

He didn't have to tell me who Katniss was. Peeta loved her since I can remember. But what did strike me as weird was the fact that they both won.

"Finnick, there is only one victor."

"Not this year, Katniss and Peeta kept up a romance, some say it was fake but believe it was real. The game maker took pity on them, and the he was killed. He, well he is the sheriff of Aldrie. Seneca.

Anyway, after that the districts started rebelling. A plan came about when the quarter quell was announced. The quell was that all the tribute would be selected from the pool of previous victors. Yes I was in the games, no that's not how I died.

Most of the victors died but the ones we needed were saved, we got out and had a full on rebellion at our hands."

I look around we aren't walking fast, where did the town line take us? How far are we from "14"?

"So, we hid put in 13, which had been a thriving district since the dark days. Emmeline, Peeta was hijacked by the Capitol, last I saw of him he was doing okay. We went to the Capitol, that's how I died, during a fight." I want to know more about how he died but he seems to avoid the subject, I can't blame him.

"After that I only know small rumors. But if what I heard is right, we lost. The Capitol took over and we have a Dark Days part 2 on our way. 14 was made to protect all the rebels, most specifically victor. That's where Katniss and Peeta should be. What I have heard is the there is a assassin sent to kill all who have or had anything to do with anyone and 14 and then kill them.

If that's true we are all doomed."

We walk for a while in silence taking it all in.

"We aren't far actually." Finnick says.

I look over to Keiran and like we did so many times in the games we communicate to each other without saying a word.

Emmeline: Why do I miss our old life

Keiran: I miss it too, but this is our life. Panem is our home we have to save it.

I sigh he is right.

"Just over this hill guys." I run up to Finnick and get a glimpse at 14.

I look over and it is like another world. All of the homes are built in large rainforests trees.

"Hey Finn. Just thought of this but we aren't just gonna walk in and say 'We are back from the dead and you all are gonna die' are we?" Keiran asks.

"WE ARE BACK FROM THE DEAD AND YOU ARE ALL GONNA DIE." Finnick yells bursting in to the main cabin which he guessed was where Peeta and Katniss were.

He was right, Peeta and Katniss stand only a few steps away. Both are incredibly confused.

"Finnick?" Katniss asks.

Peeta is pre-occupied with Finnick. Then his eyes shift and he sees me.

"Emmeline!" He says.

I can't help it I burst into tears and run to Peeta he hugs me.

"You were dead!" He says embracing me.

"I know bu-but, bit Finnick understands it better." I say. "You got the girl." I say looking at Katniss.

He laughs, "yeah, yeah I did."

Suddenly a shriek rises in the room.

"FINNICK!!!!" A girl scream.

"ANNIE!" He says.

A red-headed girl comes running to him, crying hysterically.

"You were dead, you were dead. Please tell me you are here please please." She please hugging him.

"I am here. I am here."

We all meet up after reunions are done.

Finnick explains all of what he told us. And all about what happened in Aldrie.
The whole time Annie sits in his lap.

Peeta fills us in on our logistics in the war. And the I break the bad news.

"From what Finnick heard, the Capitol sent an assassin to kill everyone even related with 14."

Haymitch, who mentored me in my games, looks up from his bottle and smiles.

"So we will be ready."
