Sometimes one chance is all you need.

"Daddy, what's that," Fae asked her voice stumbling over the words. Using a chubby finger, she pointed to the ring on his finger while clinging onto his shoulder.

"It's a ring you use to show someone you love them." He explained, holding her so she wouldn't topple off his shoulders. Even though Fae had grown, her hair curling into an Afro like state, her body still hadn't got a sense of balance. To be fair the coordination of most three-year-old kids was off.

"Is that why you and uncle Jack have one?" She questioned, causing Thea to choke on her drink in laughter.

"No, my ring's for mommy, not Jack." He explained while Thea was still laughing.

"Even she thinks Merrikat is real."

"Thea you're not drinking alcohol right?" Julie asked, sitting down on the couch beside her and pulling the drink out of her hands. She sniffed it and once felt satisfied that it was just sparkling grape juice handed it back to her.

"Can I don't drink in peace? Seriously, you guys worry too much, I was fine when I had Fae and I will be fine with this one." Thea defended, taking a big sip of her drink and sending the pair a pissed off glare.

"No your were an emotion wreck," Julie replied, tying her blonde hair back. She had obviously spent too much time with Jack and Alex, learning from their sass.

"I would have paid to see that," Zack admitted sitting Fae down on the floor, his smile covering the true meaning to those words.

"Believe me, you wouldn't have." Julie scoffed before picking Fae up and sitting her small body on her own lap.

"I don't know, we all wish for weird things. I mean that donkey at Jack's wedding, I don't think I would have wished for that." He told her, remembering his best friends wedding from a few weeks ago. Jack being dead set on having a petting zoo for some unknown reason.

"Yeah but the flower girl and boy were pretty cute," Julie remarked, playing with Fae's hair while Thea watched the two adding no comment.

"I like Anthony but he stole my flowers." Fae pouted.

"Jack must be giving his stepson bad habits."

"Says you." Thea piped up for the first time in awhile.

"I haven't taught Fae anything bad." He lied remembering the other day when he taught her a swear word on accident. Zack hadn't expected her to be standing around the corner when he hit his thumb doing repairs on the house.

"Ketchup, she puts it on everything." Thea laughed.

"It's better than you over spicing everything," Zack complained, sticking his tongue out.

"Well Mr. Big Shot Bass Player, you don't have to deal with my cooking when you go on tour soon." She grinned, ignoring the pain in her stomach. It was going to be annoying without Zack but Nigel and Fredrick came over a lot since they loved Fae. She almost threw adoption papers in their arms last time they were here, they needed a kid.

"Okay, I'm sorry I love your cooking...even when you almost kill me."

"That curry wasn't that spicy." She cut Zack off.

"Thea it was." Julie interrupted, releasing Fae out of her arms.

"It wasn't that bad, isn't that right sweetie." She continued, asking Fae who was too young to even eat curry when she made it.

"I prefer daddy's cooking." She mumbled, resting her head against Thea.

"That's just plain rude," Thea remarked, picking Fae up in her arms and passing her back to Zack who grinned. "You can have the trader."
