charlie sat with luke in a booth the next day. calum wasn't there, and charlie was sad but luke told her that he had to study for an exam. charlie had a feeling that she wouldn't see him much. she had luke though, luke was nice, right? she didn't know him well enough to be able to answer that.
"well luke er uh you can tell i have no clue what to say," charlie laughed quietly—awkwardly. "do you like penguins?" luke asked. "sure they're cute, adorable, and clumsy, but snow bunnies are cuter."
luke's jaw dropped. "how dare you!"
charlie raised her eyebrow. "how dare me? how dare you for how daring me!"
luke grabbed his vanilla cupcake with chocolate frosting and rainbow sprinkles out of the open plastic container. he carefully peeled the wrapper off, not wanting to have the frosting come down with it and then make a mess everywhere.
especially not in front of charlie.
