Radharc ón Cnoic (View from the Hill)

Tá ocras acu,

na daoine atá i gconaí i bhun na cnoice.

Níl aon bia acu,

tá siad ag fáil bhás den ghorta.

Ach tá bia ar an oileán ghalairach seo

i lámh na ndaoine saibhre.

Ar chfaca siad na linbh ag caoineadh

i gcoinne ar hucht na máthair?

Táim ag féachaint ar mo mhuintir

daoine neamhurchóideach iad.

Táim féin bás den ghorta. Níl éinne liom

duine ná deoraí

TRANSLATION

They are hungry

the people that live at the bottom of the hill.

They don't have any food

they are dying from Famine.

But there is food on this diseased island

in the hands of the rich people.

Do they see the babies crying against the chests of their mothers?

I am looking at my people

they are innocent people

I myself am dead from famine, but theres no one with me

not a soul.
