I tried to focus on anything but him. I went to my room to workout after I did my usual duties around the house. I tried focusing on my task at hand- and that was working out as efficiently as possible- I need to gain muscle back, my endurance. I need to focus.
I was pacing again.
I think I picked up the habit from Danny, he's always pacing his office floors. Sometimes at night I can hear it, and it lulls me to sleep.
Now I found myself doing it without even thinking.
Somewhere between push ups and jumping jacks I had skipped a step and started pacing.
And despite me fighting- with all of my power- to focus, I found myself thinking of him again. And again and again. And I couldn't stop.
My nerves were welling up inside of me. The words he told me earlier kept playing in my head. I took a shower, got dressed in my favorite white sundress, and got ready for lunch. I was too nervous to seek out Danny, I couldn't remember if he wanted me to go to him, or if he'd come to me. So I found myself pacing my room again as I brushed my hair.
A knock at the door jolted me out of my thoughts.
"Danny's waiting for you, you know." Owen said from the other side of the door.
"Okay, I'll be down in a minute!" I called.
"You okay?" He asked. I nodded, but remembered he couldn't see through the door.
"Yeah, just getting ready, I'll hurry up."
"Alright sis." He said, and left me to my thoughts.
When I got downstairs neither Owen nor Danny were downstairs. I looked around the house to the kitchen, but didn't find either.
"Owen said go out to the back." Frea said as she nodded outside, she was at the island prepping food.
"Thanks." I nodded, and left the kitchen quickly, my hands shaking nervously, more and more the closer I got to him. When I saw him in the backyard I froze for a moment. He was talking with Owen about something over a blueprint, and as he spoke he looked so handsome. There's something undeniably attractive about the way a man looks while he speaks. Especially him. The way he almost smiles as he speaks, the way his green eyes reflect the sunlight, and the way he moves his hands, the way he commands attention and respect. The way he- in his silent way- exudes his power as Alpha.
And then he freezes too, and I can tell he senses me, and then he's smiling up at me. He tells Owen something, and Owen nods, then walks away. He takes a few slow steps towards me, but my little feet are already propelling me two or three times faster towards him, he's only moved a few feet when I approach him, and wrap my arms around him.
"Hey little spitfire." He chuckles as he catches my hug, lifts me a few inches off my toes, and buries his face in my hair. "I'm so fucking excited to see you." He said as he moved his face to kiss my neck. It felt so good, but then he started growling and he pulled away. "Give me a second okay?" He kissed my forehead and walked away, taking a steadying breath. I took one, too, and waited anxiously while he talked to Owen again. I don't know why I'm so anxious, but it feels like every fiber of my being is buzzing being close to him. I had to escape this feeling- the overwhelming rushing feeling- the feeling you get after drinking too much coffee; the feeling when your whole body is buzzing, and stopping caused you to shake to move again.
