You Mean... Love? [#Wattys2016] *Sonadow and Knuxilver*

So Close

*Dark's POV*

I don't know how I fell in love with my good side's rival, it just... happened. As soon as I heard his voice through Sonic's ears, and saw him through Sonic's eyes, I knew he was special. He has always been so... dark and mysterious. I guess that's why I like him... He reminds me so much of me, yet he's so different... He's like... both Sonic and I combined...

I probably sound crazy, Exe has told me that plenty of times (though he's not any better), but it's the truth... I've finally convinced Sonic that Shadow is a great match for us, and he seems to be falling for the black hedgehog more as time goes on. Exe is still denying it, saying that he'd be better to eat than love, but I'm sure he really doesn't care. He's never really cared about most of Sonic's choices in life because it wouldn't effect him in any way. Sonic has learned how to hold Exe back easily, so it's almost as if he doesn't exist except for the comments he makes every now and then (he's not much of a talker). I almost feel bad for him.

Anyways, I think we're getting closer to Shadow. He's been blushing a lot, and he seems flustered around Sonic. He's even shown more emotion this morning than he has in the years we've known him. I just wish it wasn't sadness that he showed... Something about seeing tears in his blood red eyes just didn't feel right....

Now, Sonic and Shadow are going to help Knuckles and Silver with their relationship. I honestly don't know why Sonic always wants to help people, but we get to be near Shadow, so I don't care. It's basically just a bunch of awkward silence. I better do something about this...

"At least say something!" I yelled out to Sonic.

'He's going through a rough time today, Dark. I don't think we should do this while he's so down...' Sonic replied back.

I sighed. "Well, you could at least talk to him."

'I don't know what to say...'

"Um... Sonic...?" Shadow's deep voice brought our attention back to him.

"Yeah, Shads?" I heard Sonic answer him.

"There's something that I've been wanting to talk to you about..." Shadow said.

I could feel Sonic's heart beating faster than he can run. Exe seemed to notice it too because he told Sonic, "Calm down; you're going to give yourself a heart attack."

'I'm trying, but I think he's going to talk about the kiss.' Sonic replied to us, but to Shadow he said, "Yeah? What would that be about?"

"Just breathe, Sonic." I said.

"Well... Yesterday, when Mephiles appeared, you acted differently, and you looked different..." Shadow said. "What happened...?"

That's when my heart stopped. He wants to know who I am? Definitely didn't see that coming...

I could feel Sonic frozen in place, not speaking nor moving. I could almost see the fear-stricken face I bet he has. He's been trying to keep Exe and me a secret for his whole life. Even Tails doesn't know, but now Shadow, our crush, has actually questioned Sonic about it. I couldn't blame him though... Exe and I were frozen too.

"Sonic?" Shadow's voice questioned.

"Nothing weird happened yesterday. I didn't act weird, nor look weird." Sonic said lowly before he started walking again. "Let's just find Silver."

Silence again came, more awkward than before. Nobody spoke, not even Exe or me. To be perfectly honest, I was still frozen in place. I was so close to being revealed... Shadow was so close to finding out about Sonic's two dark sides...

I finally got the courage to move again, not like there was much places to go. Being inside someone's mind wasn't really the best thing; it got boring really easily. Exe and I live in the nightmare side of Sonic's mind, and we rarely go out. All of Sonic's nightmares are here, so I guess it's a good place for his dark sides. It was mostly a barren, dark place. Most of Sonic's bad dreams involve his friends dying, so bloody bodies of Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and other friends pop up at random times. This place does have it's own version of Mephiles, but this mouthless hedgehog originated from a dream before Sonic ever met Silver and Mephiles because of time travel that just won't send them back. This Mephiles came from a nightmare that involved Mephiles killing Sonic, and some human princess revived him with a kiss. Sonic's got a weird mind...

Exe and I see him every once and a while, but not much. He normally hides in the shadows, not saying anything until he wants to bring the nightmare back.

On the other side of Sonic's mind, there's probably a lot of happiness and rainbows, but it's also a world where Sonic and Shadow are together. I don't go over there much, but when I do, I always seem to create my own dream for Sonic that involves him and Shadow. He doesn't seem to complain about it, so I just keep making them. (A/N *cough* reason for Sonic's dream in ch. 3 *cough*)

I could almost feel that Sonic and Shadow were getting close to Mephiles' base, and that started to raise some questions for me. What will happen in here...?

I can't do anything about it. Sonic will probably never let me out again, so... I'm pretty much useless now...

I just hope everything will turn out right...

Yay!

I've had serious writer's block, but I hope this chapter in Dark's POV will make up for the long time that I've been gone...
My writer's block is gone now for this story, so if life doesn't get in the way, I will update a bit faster. :)
