I've decided that there aren't words to describe the colors in Connor's eyes.

Zoe says they're green and Nora thinks they're blue and Pj thinks they're the color of the sea. He describes them as green, but there are galaxies in those eyes, they're green and blue and gray and hazel and the color of mint and rhetorical questions that get answered and chasing seagulls down the beach and first kisses and gold medals on rainy days and the sun peeking out from behind the gray clouds.

Connor laughs when he steals the slip of paper I wrote that down on. "What's this for, Troye? Your epic sonnet about the everlasting beauty of my eyes?"

I roll my eyes at him, though a pang of shame shoots through my heart. "I thought I could use that in...in a song, idiot," I signed.

"You're a songwriter?" he asked, surprised.

I shrugged, signing, "occasionally."

"You should sing some of your songs for me sometime."

I just stared at him. I don't talk anymore and he expects me to sing?

"Oooh, right," he says, realizing what he had said. "Zoe could probably sing it for you then. Maybe?"

"Maybe."
