"hey kathy!"
"you'll never guess what just happened!"
"well i guess you can guess, then." mother laughs.
"yeah i know right! they grow up so fast! it seems like just yesterday Jason was taking his first steps!"
"ma!" i interject, willing mother to pay attention to me again.
"well, i gotta go, parenthood is calling." mother laughs again hanging up the phone
"we'll have to visit them soon, now won't we?" my mother chuckles in my direction
i giggle in response.
