The Cool Nerd

Chapter Two

We walked in Ap Chem and again all eyes were on me again for the second time today, didn't their parents teach them not to stare. Avery walked me to the back of the classroom and I sat next to her. I place my notebook and a pencil on my desk and waited for the teacher. After two minutes of waiting I finally got bored and started making conversation with Avery,

"Hey Av wheres the teacher?" I asked her in anticipation to get the class over with and go home and crawl back in my bed and wish to never come back. Just kidding like I said I love school.

"Av? Only my brother calls me that" she said shocked

"I'm sorry I didn't know I'll stop calling you that" I didn't mean to offend her, I thought a nickname would be nice

"no-no I didn't mean it like that, it's just that he's the only one that ever called me that and now he's in the military, I only get to see him once a year" she said a tear slipping out of her eyes, now I felt completely bad for making her sad, she's so small and I just want to squeeze the life out of her and she has those cheeks that you just want to pinch like an old gramma seeing her grand kid and giving her some candy. Her petite figure slumped down the chair and she started doodling in her notebook.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to upset you are you mad at me?" I asked hoping she would say no, she's the only friend I have here and I don't want to lose her.

"of course not, your the only friend I have and I'm not about to lose you, you can call me Av you know?!" she said giggling. Aww I just want to squeeze her and never let her go.

"let's hug it out" I said grinning at her, just as we were about to hug, the teacher came in, she was a middle age women I would say in her 30's probably,

'she's really pretty though' I thought to myself

"ok class we have a new student Veronica Jacobs?" I raised my hand to tell her that I was here, all I was thinking was 'please make me introduce myself' I was begging because I don't do good at introductions neither public speaking

"please get up and introduce yourself" nooooooooooo

"my name is Veronica Jacobs, I'm 16 and I'm a senior, so far I've made one friend and she's really cool"

"thank you for you lovely introduction, now class we will be learning about meiosis and mitosis, the person next to you is your partner and you'll be working together for two weeks, any questions?" she looked around and sighed "ok well get working, come take the assignment, it's right here" she pointed at the stack of paper in her desk. I got up to go get one for Avery and I. I waited until everyone got theirs than I grabbed mine. I walked back to Avery and smiled,

"ok you have to come to my house for this" I said excited, I've only known this girl for 45 mms and I already feel like she's my best friend, small world

"of course I'll come, can I go with you?"

"of course you can" we started working an saying what we wanted to do. We'll have to get the materials on our way to my house and I asked her if she could sleepover and she said yes!.

The bell rang and we put everything back in our bag and headed to calculus. Math is one of my favorite subject and I'm always craving to solve an equation but science is my priority because I'm going to be a pediatrician, I already help at health centers and homeless places for kids. It pains me to see their sad face, I'm always ready to help anyone in need.

Unless you haven't noticed I'm a 16 year old and I'm a senior, I skipped junior year because I was already doing 11th grade work when I was a sophomore.

I sat next to Avery and I had to introduce myself again, I guess that's how it's going to happen for the rest of the day.

I already made 3 more friends and I told them if they weren't friends with Avery they couldn't be with me. Avery is my girl and she's the coolest person ever

"Nate give that back" Nate was one of the new friends I made and there was also Keegan and Jessie, we have our own little stop at break which is by this big tree, we marked it as ours and we called it "Nerd Spot" it was named after Avery and I since we're nerds, Nate was the quarter back of the football team and Keegan was the captain, it think he said he was the linebacker. Jessie is the captain of the soccer team and I told her I wanted to join because soccer is on of my favorite sport. She told me there was also volleyball and I was very exited.

Right now where walking to lunch and I told the group that I'll pay because it was a nice jester to do,

"Nica I can't let you pay for me" Av protest, I was not going to loose this fight, this girl is practically 90 pounds she's so skinny.

"Av, I'm going to pay and that's final" I payed for our food and we walked to our spot, the wind started to pick up and it felt nice to be outdoors,

"so monsters inc. or rio" Nate asked

"monsters inc. bro, who wants to know about birds flying" Keegan retorted

"I do" Jessie yelled, I looked over Av and saw that she hasn't touch her food at all, she was shaking and I saw a tear streamed down her pale skin

"Av are you ok?" I asked really worried, Av is like the sister I never had, I know I just met her but I feel like I have to protect her and stay by her side at all times

She started shaking her head visciously and I was scared something was happening to her,

"no, no, no......." I pulled her to me and hugged her, she instantly calmed down and fell asleep in my hands
