The Cool Nerd

Chapter Three

"we have to get her to the nurse's office immediately, she's becoming more pale" I whispered, I didn't want to wake her up, Nate took her in my arms and started walking to the nurse's office, I left Keegan and Jessie behind, I know they would come later on.

When we got there it was empty and I thanked The Lord for that, I know what to do in this situation but I needed to know what's wrong with her so bringing her here was a good idea for me to find out.

"what's wrong with her" the nurse asked, she had long black hair and hazel eyes, she was wearing a white lab coat and heals, she was really beautiful

"we don't know, she started shaking and screaming, then she feel asleep. She's burning right now and she's really pale" Nate said worried, for a jock he's really nice and sweet. I see the way he looks at Av and I'll have to have the talk with him later.

"bring her to the bed" we followed her into a room which had a hospital bed and all the wires and machines needed, Nate gently placed Av on the bed and the nurse checked her temperature and if she was breathing or not, she lifted her shirt up and gasped. I panicked and also gasped at what I've just seeing, Av has bruises everywhere on her stomach, I lighted the sleeves of her shirt and saw the same thing.

This is cruel, who would want to abuse a 16 year old, I could help stopping the tears. I feel so bad for her. Her ribs are poking out and she's to skinny, the person who did this must not feed her. Nate came by my side to see what I was looking at, he's face was fuming red and he punched the wall,

"Mr. Calloway, I will not accept this type of behavior in here please leave this room!" the nurse yelled, he stormed off the room and slammed the door.

"I'll help if you need anything, I'm studying to be a pediatrician so this will help" I told her looking at Av,

"sure, please get me a towel, bandages, alcohol and a needle with the thread, there in the cabinet in the bathroom, down left then make a right" I took her directions and made my way to the bathroom, I got everything she asked for and made my way back to the room. I handed her everything and started cleaning Av's wounds.

I don't want her going to her house anymore, those bruises are fresh and I wouldn't like for her to get abused more.

Av finally woke up and now she was eating noodles because I forced her to eat something.

"so are you going to tell me who did those" I said pointing to her stomach, I saw her tense and a tear streamed down her face,

"it's my dad" she whispered

"what? When did this start?" I asked angry, for some reason I feel like it was my duty to protect Av,

"I was adopted, my mom couldnt reproduce so they adopted me, I never knew my real parents and I've being trying to find them. My mom died when I was 5 and that's when it started. He was always angry and always drunk, he started hitting me, he'll lock me in the basement and shut the lights, I was seated in a metal chair and chained. It got worst at the age of 12, the punishments were worst and whenever I mentioned my mom he'll lock me in the basement. I'm not really aloud to eat. I have to make food for him everyday before he comes from work, if it's not there I'll get hit or punched. I don't want to go back the Nica, I don't want to!" I took her in my arms and hugged her, I feel so bad for her. if I could do something to help her I would, then a thought came in mind

"come with me"

"what?"

"come live with me, I can't stand seeing you like this"

"I can't let you do that, we've just met"

"I know but I feel like its my duty to protect you" I retorted, it was scaring me because I didn't want her to say no and got back to that man

"ok, but how about your parents?" she asked

"don't worry about that, your coming home with me today"

"thank you so much, please don't tell anyone about this"

"I won't.....oh and Av?"

"yes?"

"you might want to know that Nate knows about this" I said lighting up her arm. He eyes widened in shock

"no no he can't"

"oh, he does. And also I have to have the talk with him" I said wiggling my eyebrows, she looked at me like I was crazy and I frowned

"what kind of talk?"

"you know he likes you right?" she blushed a scarlet color and I thought it was cute, she does like him back

"he does?"

"yes boo I'm afraid he does"

It was the end of school and I waited for my brother with Av by my side. I told her that she can sleep in one of the rooms in that mansion and also borrow my clothes, I want going to let her go back to that house!.

"I saw Liam's car and walked to him, I give his a peck on the cheek and buckled up, I saw Av standing outside the car awkwardly and lost,

"get in the car Av, he won't bite!" she sighed and got in the car

"hey, I'm Liam"

"Avery"

"so how do you guys know each other?"

"she's moving in with us" I said as if it was a normal thing

"oh" was all he said.

When we got to my new home, I took Av immediately to the kitchen, I saw my mom getting plates and my dad reading his newspaper,

"hey mom dad, this is Avery and she's going to live with us" my mom turned around and dropped the plates in her hands and started to cry, my dad look sad and happy at the same time

"what's wrong?"

"Nica, she's your sister"
