Ch 4 Best of the Best

Jaden woke up and went to school where he heard an announcement that the school duel was happening in a week. Jaden thought that he should challenge a strong duelist who was as strong as he was. So Jaden went around the school asking people who was the toughest kid on the block and he heard from a few people said that Zane was the king of the school.

He walked around a corner and literally ran into someone and they both fell to the ground. Jaden got up quickly and saw that it was Alexis that he had run into. Jaden said "Alexis I am so sorry that I ran into you I didn't think that I would hit anyone." Alexis stopped him and said "its okay, it is not like you did it on purpose." Jaden smiled and Alexis' heart skipped a beat and she smiled back at him. She walked up to him and kissed him and they started to make out and some people passed by and saw this and started to talk about it.

Jaden then pulled away from her and he said "I was wondering if you knew Zane by any chance?" Alexis looked at him with a puzzled expression but she said "yes I do know him, but why ask me this question?" Jaden said "I want to challenge him to a duel so I could be our representative for the school duel." Alexis was shocked at first to hear this but said "I will ask him if he wants to duel you, if that is what you wish."  Jaden smiled and then leaned in and kissed her and he said "is it okay if I come with you to ask him." Alexis said "okay but letting you know Zane is one of my closest friends, but I love you more than anything, okay?"

 So they made their way to the Obelisk boys' dorm and Alexis seeing Zane, ran up to him. Alexis said  "hey Zane, I would like you to meet my boyfriend Jaden. He asked me to ask you if you wanted to duel him?" Zane looked surprised by this new knowledge and said "finally I don't need to protect you, as much anymore. To answer your question I feel that a duel against an opponent of his kind of caliber would be fun." Jaden said "ok but lets keep it on the down low, I think if people see us duel they might think I am going after your tittle. I have no intention of taking your tittle, I want to duel so that my skills are at their best and you could help me get there."

 Zane said "lets meet at the Slifer cliff in one hour and I would like to have my brother watch and to also ask Bastion from Ra yellow to watch also." With that Zane left and Jaden was ready to take on the best Duel Academy could offer. So Jaden informed Syrus and Bastion about the duel and they had so many questions but they were silenced by a single answer. The answer was that he wanted to duel the best and to be the best you have to beat the best.

So Jaden, Alexis, Bastion, and Syrus made their way to the Slifer cliff and Zane was already there waiting for him. Jaden said "get your game on." Zane smiled and said "I am going  at you with everything I have so don't hold back, got it?," Jaden nodded and started his duel disk and so the battle begins.

Jaden said "Zane you can go first and believe me I will give you everything that my deck has to offer." Zane smiles and draws his card and  says "I play polymerization to summon the mighty Cyber End Dragon. Jaden, I told you I would give it my all and that is what you get." Jaden said "are you done? I have a duel to win if you don't mind." Zane was shocked by what he said because he had already summoned his strongest monster and on the first turn no less.

Alexis, Bastion, and Syrus were also shocked to hear what came from Jaden's mouth because they knew that Cyber End Dragon was Zane's most powerful monster in his deck. Zane said " I end my turn." Jaden drew his card and smiled and said "I play my favorite monster, Winged Kuriboh in attack mode and play one card faced down and end my turn.

Zane begins to laugh at Jaden and the monster he just summoned and said "why would you summon such a weak monster like that? I guess you just weren't much of a challenge to me I guess. I play de-fusion to summon my three Cyber Dragons. Now, attack Winged Kuriboh." In response, Jaden said "not so fast, I play the spell card Transcendent Wings. This spell card turns my Winged Kuriboh into a level ten monster and now the ability of Winged Kuriboh level ten, by tributing my monster, I can destroy all your monsters and you receive damage equal to the combined attack points of all of your monsters.

Zane looked surprised and saw that he was about to lose and he lost without Jaden summoning an Egyptian God. As the duel ended, Zane got on one knee and said to himself "I was being reckless." Jaden walked over to Zane and held out his hand to help him up and Zane stood up. Jaden said "I told you I would not hold back and I gave  you everything I've got. I had another reason to duel you, I wanted to be the one to represent us in the school duel."

Zane said "I will talk to the principal and recommend you if that is ok with you?" Jaden answered "that would be fine with me, but I need to take care of something right now." Jaden looked at Alexis and motioned to have her  come next to him. He held her hand and they both started to walk away and Zane thought "those two will be the best couple that I have ever seen."

Zane was in a room with the teachers and the principal and they were talking about who should represent the school for the school duel. Crowler said "Zane of course, he is the most qualified to do this." Zane then said "we should give the freshman a chance to duel because I have already participated in one school duel. I would like to nominate Jaden as our representative." Most of the teachers and even the principal agreed but Crowler was the only one to disagree. Crowler said "I nominate Bastion to be our representative. He is more than capable and he is one of the top students in the class." The principal said "we will have a  duel between Bastion and Jaden and that is how this will be resolved.

Jaden got a message on his PDA and he looked at it and it said "From principal Shepard, you and Bastion will duel to decide who will represent us in the school duel. The duel will be tomorrow at around noon if that works with you. p.s. sorry if I disturbed you." Jaden then smiled and looked at Alexis and she smiled back and then they kissed. Then Alexis asked "what was it that you read on your PDA?"

Jaden said "I am in a duel to decide who will represent us in the school duel and it is against Bastion." Alexis smiled and said "you will win because you are one of the strongest, if not the strongest duelist here, and that is no joke." Jaden smiled and said "what did I do to deserve you Alexis?" Alexis smiled and pecked his lips and said "more than anyone has done for me. You treat me like a duelist first and that is what I want in a man. Also you respect me as a duelist which is also more than Harrington or Chazz ever could do. That is why I fell in love with you and don't you forget it. Also one more thing before we call it a night, I want you to promise me something." Jaden asked "what is it my love?" Alexis said "never duel to decide whether or not we get married. ok?"

Jaden said "of course I would never risk losing you to anyone and that promise I will keep till the day we are married." Alexis blushed at how much Jaden cared for her and they hugged and they made their way to their rooms. As Alexis was walking to her dorm she thought 'I am his fiancé and I will keep it that way. But I don't have a ring to keep those vultures from  coming after me. I hope that Jaden will not be jealous, when he sees other guys looking at me.'

Jaden was almost to the Slifer dorm when he thought to himself 'I am the luckest guy on the planet who gets to date a beautiful and charming girl like Alexis. I have an idea to keep the guys away from her.' He thought that he needed an engagement ring for her and he got on his cell phone and called the one man who could get him that ring. He dialed the number and a voice answered "Hello, Jaden, this had better be good?" Jaden responded "I need an engagement ring so that I can pop the question to a girl at the academy. Can you hook me up, Seto?" Kaiba said "if it was anyone else I would say no, but for you, sure. I will get a 5 carat ring for you because I want to show my appreciation to you. You came to the academy to protect it, so consider it granted. You will have the ring by tomorrow. I  will have it delivered to class, if that is ok with you?" Jaden said "that is perfect and thank Kaiba I will keep up the job and keep you informed on the school." Before he hung up Seto said "who is the girl you are going to pop the question to?" Jaden said "Alexis Rhodes." And with that he hung up and went to bed thinking of one thing, Alexis.
