Ch 7 The Shadows have come

In Jaden's mind it went into overdrive to the possible answers that she could give. Most of them were bad but he had hope she would say the one word that would make his life perfect. In Alexis's mind she was thinking 'did he just do what I think he just did? Yes he did say he wanted to marry me and looking at the diamond, he must love me a lot get that diamond.' She then realized one thing and that was that she wanted to be with Jaden and then she needed to give him an answer.

Alexis said "yes, I will marry you." Jaden's eyes widened up and he gently grabbed her hand and slipped the ring on her finger and smiled. Jaden had felt like he had won something more than an  important duel, he had a soul mate now. Alexis said "Jaden we need to do two things before we get married and that is to find my brother and we need to talk it over with our parents." Jaden said "yes we will, but I also feel that Atticus will be arriving at this school soon. I heard from Kaiba that someone is wanting the three Sacred Beast cards. So we will be assigned a key that will protect and keep the beasts safe."

Alexis looked stunned at this new information but could only concentrate on one thing, spending the rest of her life with the man that she loved. Alexis said "I will be by your side till the very end and that is a promise that I will keep till the end." Jaden shed a tear and felt that he had made the right choice on proposing to her. They then kissed and parted and they both got back to their dorms.

Alexis got to her room where both Mindy and Jasmine were waiting for her. Jasmine asked "so what did you two lovebirds talk about that took about twenty five minutes?" Alexis held up her left hand and both of them saw the ring and screamed with joy. Jasmine said "he proposed to you, how romantic." Both girls gave Alexis a hug and were smiling like they had been the one who had been proposed to.

As this was happening, Jaden got back to his room and Syrus asked "what did you do with Alexis after the dance?" Jaden said "I asked Alexis to marry me and she said yes." Syrus was surprised at what Jaden had said but still offered congratulations. "So when is the wedding going to be, Jaden?" Jaden said "first things first, I have to meet her parents and we need to protect the three Sacred Beasts cards." Syrus heard this and said "well get some sleep, you are going to need it if what you say is true." Jaden slept that night though a storm was brewing and as a  man appeared out of the darkness and said "it is time to reclaim what is rightfully ours."

The next day Jaden made his way to Banner's class. Class started and Banner said "Alexis, Bastion, Chazz, and Jaden, the Principal would like to see you all in his office now." As Jaden and Alexis went with Bastion and Chazz,  Chazz noticed the ring on Alexis' finger. Chazz said "Alexis what is that ring doing on your hand?" Alexis said "Jaden proposed to me and I said yes, so, now you know." She smiled as she said this and Chazz's face turned red in anger but then Jaden gave Alexis a peck on the cheek and they entered the Principal's office where Shepard was waiting for them.

Shepard said "thanks for coming, I have bad news for you guys. I need you seven to guard these keys from the shadow riders." Jaden saw that Crowler, Zane, and Banner were already there so that made seven. Shepard said "I know that this puts you in a tight spot but I had no one else to turn to. So can I count on you guys to protect the keys from the shadow riders?" Jaden said "yes, I already knew this because Mr. Kaiba had already informed me about the situation and I will do my best to protect my key." Alexis said  "if Jaden's in then so am I." The rest agreed to help and each were given a key to protect and they all secured their key around their necks.

Jaden and Alexis were walking to the Slifer dorm to prepare their decks for the clash that would happen. When they got to the dorm they saw a note on the nightstand. It said 'if you want to see your friends again then go to the volcano.' So both Alexis and Jaden made their way to the volcano and saw both Syrus and Chumley were trapped in an orb that was levitating over the lava. A figure appeared out of nowhere and he said "I have been waiting for you. So I see that you two hold on to two keys, I will now relieve you of them in a duel."

Jaden started his duel disk and said "get your game on." The shady character said "before we begin, you should know my name before I cast you into the shadow realm. My name is Nightshroud and I will show you what darkness is." Jaden and Alexis were startled by this but began the duel. Nightshroud said "I will go first, now I play Red Eyes Black Chick in attack mode. I activate my Chick's special ability which I can tribute my Red Eyes to summon Red Eyes Black Dragon. Now I activate the spell card Inferno Fire Blast, which you take damage equal to my Red Eyes attack points but my Red Eyes can't attack you this turn, so I end my turn."

Jaden was already down to 1,600 life points and he was staring down a monster with over 2,000 attack points. Alexis was worried that her future husband would lose and they would never have the wedding that she wanted. Jaden drew his card and said "I play Graceful Charity which allows me to draw three cards, but I have to discard two. Now I play polymerization to summon the Elemental Hero Flame Wingman. I play the field spell Skyscraper which increases my monster by 1,000 when he battles a monster with greater attack points then his own. Now Flame Wingman attack."

Nightshroud watched in horror as his monster was destroyed and lost 3,100 life points, now he was defenseless. Jaden ended his turn and Nightshroud drew his card and smiled and said "I play Monster Reborn to bring back Red Eyes Black Dragon. Now I sacrifice him to summon Red Eyes Darkness Dragon in attack mode. My monster ability to gain 300 attack points for every dragon in the graveyard and I have two and now attack with Dark Inferno Fire Blast. The blast destroyed Flame Wingman and Jaden's life points took a dive. Jaden now had 700 life points left.

Jaden fell to the ground and Alexis wanted to go by her lover's side but if she did that it would mean Jaden had lost. Jaden got up slowly and said to himself 'I am not going to lose this fight because my fiancé is watching and I love her more than anything.' Jaden drew his card and said "I play my own Monster Reborn to summon Flame Wingman, now I play polymerization to summon Elemental Hero Shining Flare Wingman in attack mode and his ability is to gain 300 attack points for each Elemental Hero in my graveyard and I count four." The Shining Flare Wingman increased attack from 2,500 to 3,700 attack points and its ability to inflict damage equal to the attack of the destroyed monster, so it was over. Jaden said "Shining Flare Wingman, attack and end this duel."

With that the duel was over and both Chumley and Syrus were placed on the ground next to Nightshroud and Jaden made his way over to him. Jaden removed his mask and asked Alexis a question. "Is this your brother that you said disappeared?" Alexis looked at the face and started to cry and said "yes that is Atticus, we finally found you." Jaden picked up Atticus and took him to the nurse to have him looked at.
