Into the Laboratory

"So, this is your lab?" You asked, even if it was very clearly obvious.

"Yes, it is," Gaster said, with a glance around his lab. Then he looked back to you. "You may come in, if you want."

"Okay.." You say, taking a step into the lab. It was so cool! You hadn't ever been in there before, the doors were always shut tight. You never bothered to knock on the doors until now. You started to wander around, but were careful not to touch anything. It didn't seem like that of good an idea to you, and Gaster probably wouldn't want you to mess anything up.

As you were looking around, you noticed that some of the tables with metal parts and such had small, or even somewhat large devices on them. But what they were for, you couldn't guess. You had also noticed that there was a escalator on either side of one of the walls. One went up, the other went down.

Starting to walk towards them, you took a glance at Gaster. "Can I go up there?"

He took a second to think, then nodded. "Yes. You can.." He had a bit of an unsure tone in his voice.

Because of his tone, you hesitantly took a step towards the escalator that went up, looking at him. He gave you a slightly nod to go on, and you walked to the escalator, and onto it. While it was going up, at a not to fast pace, you saw Gaster come onto it behind you. He wasn't smiling the same smile you saw him having before at Grillby's, but he still was smiling. It was just a really small one. You smiled too, then looked forward. This all, Gaster, the lab, Gaster... it was cool.

The escalator reached the second floor of the lab, you stepped off it. Practically everything was black. The walls were black, the floor had a black carpet, even the ceiling was black.. or a really dark gray. You couldn't tell, but what you could tell was that there was a skylight on the roof. The room had a large desk in it, with a computer sitting on top. There was a wood closet in a corner, and a bed, with, you guessed it, black sheets on it. But there were white pillows on it. Some other bedroom-y things were scattered around.

Blush immediately crept up to your face. This was Gaster's bedroom?! Jeez was it black.. but, GASTER'S BEDROOM?! You immediately regretted coming up here. You started to back up, forgetting that behind you was not stairs, but an escalator. But, backing you, you bumped right into Gaster. That made you blush up even more. You quickly moved away from him, and glanced at the skeleton. He showed no emotion, or did he? You couldn't tell if he had the slightest smile or frown, or something, or not. Did he? You really just could not tell.

You stepped back a bit. "S-sorry," you said, still blushing some.

"It's alright.." Gaster said, looking at you. Maybe he had the slightest bit of blush on his face.

"O-okay," you said, glancing down. "So uhm.. this is your.. bedroom?" you asked, just sort of trying to get rid of some of the awkwardness, but what you said didn't really help.

Gaster nodded. "Yes, but I don't.. use it very much. I am normally up, and working on the Core. It must get complete soon."

You nodded slightly, having heard about the Core. It seemed fairly essential to the whole underground to have, so you figured that what Gaster had said did make sense. You took a quick glance around the bedroom, and muttered something to yourself about how black it was.

"Black is nice.." Gaster said.

You didn't exactly disagree, but the room was heck of dark because of the blackness. But, dropping the topic, you just decided to leave the bedroom. It just.. didn't feel right being in someone else's bedroom. Especially a SKELETON'S bedroom whom you had JUST MET. That really wasn't right. So, taking a step forwards, you walked to the escalator that headed back downstairs.

You moved onto the escalator, and Gaster followed you. As it headed down, you looked at Gaster, and wanted to talk about something, but had no ideas for conversation topics. He seemed to try and say something, but like earlier, a massive glitch sound came out. He looked annoyed, and then tried to talk, but it mostly sounded glitchy.

"I...need...fin..thi..."

"You need to.. finish this?.. Something?" You asked, trying to make out what he said.

Gaster nodded, but didn't say a word.

~Gaster's PoV~

My speech is not very understandable. I must complete this device. I must be able to speak to this human. I can complete this device soon. I will be able to speak, then. In due time. That time will come soon. In few hours. Will I find the human again? Maybe. The human with possibly come by, or I will possibly stumble upon her. Wonderful. This will work. I know it will.

~Reader's PoV~

The escalator reached the floor, and you got off. You were looking at Gaster still, he seemed to just be looking off into the distance though. You did feel that he was impatient and annoyed about something though. Maybe the device he was working on? Probably. Maybe you should leave, to let Gaster finish his device. Maybe- while you wanted to look around more, or even talk to Gaster more, you did want to let him get to his device.

"Um, Gaster.. Do you want me to leave, so you can, um, finish what you were working on?"

Gaster slowly gave a nod, and started to sign something to you, but stopped remembering that you couldn't understand.

"Alright.. then, I'll leave. Bye, Gaster.." you said reluctantly, and walked to the door of the lab. The doors opened once you reached them, and you turned around, and waved bye to Gaster. He waved back. Turning around, you walked outside.
