I’m Natalie Parks, and I’m sixteen years old. I’m your average high school girl and try to do my best. I’m five feet five inches, and have medium wavy black hair. My green eyes are my least favorite about me; they remind me of a cat’s eye. My parents are hard workers and support me to do my best. They want me to study hard so that I can grow up and be successful. At school I’m always the one who never can say no, I feel that if someone needs help than I should offer. I know that a lot of kids take advantage of that but I know they respect me. Today is another day and I am ready for a change in my life. I want something exciting to happen; I have a strange feeling that today is that day.
At school I sit down and I look around the room of my first class. Its art class and I see Mr. Hall trying to hang something up. I get up and catch the other end of the large poster and smile, “Here you go.”
Mr. Hall smiles back, “Thank you Ms. Parks. You’re always such a help!”
I nod and sit back down and see Sam and Kate sit down next to me. Kate asks, “Hey, can you help me with my algebra homework?”
I laugh, “You never do your homework, do you?”
Kate winks, “I need my beauty rest!”
Sam starts to play with my hair, “You should let me do your hair one day, please!”
I shrug, “Sure.”
Kate explains to me what she has to do when I see Mr. Hall start class, “I’ll help you after class okay?”
Kate nods, “Thanks so much!”
Mr. Hall announces, “Okay class, we will be painting today and using our paintings in the auction. I expect good work from you all. Do I have any volunteers to be on the committee for this auction?”
A girl named Lucy raised her hand; she always asked the questions that everyone else was too lazy to ask. She had blonde hair and was sweet, “What does the committee do?”
Mr. Hall smiled, “Good question. The committee will be in charge of pulling this whole thing together, getting reservations for the event and setting up.”
Everyone was silent and no one raised their hand. Mr. Hall sighed, “Come on, someone, please help out a little, and if we don’t the art program will get cut.”
I looked around at everyone and took a deep breath, “Mr. Hall, I’ll join.”
Mr. Hall clasped his hands together and jumped happily, “Thank you Natalie!”
Mr. Hall was without a doubt my favorite teacher he always was in a good mood and always encouraged me to be my best. It was the least I could do for him in return. He had dark brown shaggy hair and he wore thin glasses that were perched up at the bridge of his nose. He always had nice clothes that he claims to have gotten at 2nd hand shops. He wrote my name on the board and then Kate looked at me, “You really want to do this?”
I nod and smile, “It could be fun, who knows?”
Kate thought about it for a minute and raised her hand, “Well if Natalie will do it so will I.”
Sam raised her hand as well, “Me too.”
Sam and Kate were twins. They both had thin red hair that was always tied tightly into a pony tail. They were into fashion so they dressed nicely and in my opinion fancier than school should be. Mr. Hall smiled big, “Thank you girls!”
A few more people started to whisper and soon most of the people had signed up. I nodded proud of them, “It’s like the domino effect.”
Kate rolled her eyes, “I only joined because you did.”
I looked down at my paper and started sketching, “Well I’m glad you joined. What will you draw?”
Kate bit the eraser of her pencil and accidentally got lip gloss on her pencil, “I’m going to draw a fashion studio in Paris.”
Sam thought, “I’m going to draw a fashion show in Milan.”
“You two are so silly.”
I began to slide my pencil across the paper and then had an idea for a drawing. I began to sketch when finally I finished the rough sketch. Mr. Hall walks over to me, “I want to thank you for getting everyone pumped for this auction!”
I nod, “No problem, thanks.”
Mr. Hall smiles, “Is this your drawing? It’s very good.”
“Thank you.”
“What is it supposed to represent?”
I had drawn a girl with large black wings flying in the moonlight over a large lake. I didn’t know exactly why I had drawn it, “It’s a girl. Well actually, it’s an angel, of darkness.”
