Emma broke up with Killian because she had said that the two of these were like brothers and that she wanted to be her own person. Killian was angry because he had to make a choice to be with Emma and thought that those years they spent together meant nothing to Emma. The two weren't trying to fight but the Apprentice had castes the spell of shattered sight on the two. The Apprentice started realizing that all the fighting wasn't gonna change anything the two were soul mates and had to be separated so he then started making a portal to restart a lot of events. The event of Killian traveling to a land without magic was going to have to be erase.
