Stargazing

"Meng! Tingnan mo oh. Ang ganda ng langit."

I heard my sister Coleen say as she gestured for me to come out to the balcony. I instantly put away my laptop and earphones to go outside and check if what she had said was indeed true or she was just trying to pull a prank on me again.

True enough, the sky was so beautiful tonight. It was filled with so many stars, that were scattered all in different places. For the first time in a long time, I was in awe at this natural beauty right in front of me.

"Di ba?" Ate Coleen said. "I have to post this on Instagram. Ang ganda talaga!" She added, rushing back inside to get her phone.

As I stood there, I couldn't help but laugh as I heard her murmur about my little brother Dean taking her phone off its charger for the nth time today. She had to go downstairs to check if it was with him.

I shook my head, before taking a good look at the sky again. The stars were sparkling all over and just like Ate Coleen, I was so tempted to take a picture, but there was something that I wanted to do more than post this on my social media accounts.

Just when I was about to click his name on my favorites list, my phone lit up and buzzed to life. I was ecstatic to know that it was him on the other line.

I instantly answered the call.

"Hello?" I smiled.

"Hindi pa nga nakakailang ring, sumagot ka na kaagad." Alden laughed.

"Bakit? Ayaw mo ba?" I asked, feeling a bit hurt, though I knew that he was just trying to joke around. Medyo sensitive at pabebe din kasi ang yaya niyo at times.

"Siyempre, hindi. At least nararamdaman kong excited ka sa tuwing tumatawag ako."

I could imagine him beaming as he leaned on the backseat of his van. Feeling a bit tired, but excited, that after a long day, he could finally just laze around and spend time talking to a girlfriend that was just as clingy as he was.

"Kamusta ka na? Kakatapos lang ng show mo sa Zamboanga di ba?" I asked him.

Alden responded with an "Mmm-hmm", then coughed a little. A rush of concern instantly flowed right through me.

"O, inuubo ka na naman. Ininom mo na ba ang mga gamot mo?" I asked. I didn't like it whenever Alden was sick and loaded with way too much work. But there was nothing that we could do about it. Ganito talaga ang buhay artista.

"Opo, misis. Ininom ko na." Alden said. "Huwag kang mag-alala. Konting ubo lang to. Magiging okay din ako."

I sat down on the bench that was situated by the door leading to the bedroom my Ate Coleen and I shared.

"Alam mo, miss na miss na kita." Alden said. "Mas lalo nga kitang na-mimiss kasi ang ganda ng langit ngayon. Kasing ganda mo."

I instantly blushed.

"Ayan ka na naman eh." I replied. If only he was right beside me, I would've playfully hit his arm already. I know I've said this a million times before, but bolero talaga itong si Tisoy. Pero siyempre kinikilig pa rin ako.

"Pero totoo ang sinasabi ko uyyy." Alden mimicked Lola Nidora's ala Babalu tone. "Nung palabas kasi kami kanina, unang una kong tiningnan ang langit. Nung nakita kong andaming stars, ikaw ang unang una naalala ko. Eh kasi di ba, you've always wanted to go stargazing?"

I smiled when he brought that up. I didn't exactly remember when and where I shared to him that "stargazing" has long been on my bucket list, but for him to remember that simple fact about me made me feel so good inside.

"Yes, I've always wanted to go stargazing.. with you." I admitted. It was followed by an adorable and infectious laugh on the other line.

"O, bakit ka natatawa? Totoo din ang sinasabi ko uyyy." I laughed. "Gusto ko talagang mag-stargazing na kasama ka."

"Eh di gawin natin ngayon." Alden replied.

"Huh?"

"Alam kung hindi tayo magkasama ngayon, pero ang langit na tinitingnan natin, parehong pareho pa rin." Alden said. "Just try to imagine na nandiyan ako sa tabi mo, inaakbayan ka, habang nakatingin sa langit."

I closed my eyes as I imagined the scene he was slowly narrating.

"Pagkatapos nun, sasabihin ko sa'yo na para kang isang malaki at maliwanag na bituin sa gabing madilim. At siyempre, magtatanong ka kung bakit.."

He and I both laughed. Funny din itong si Alden no. Funny-walain. O, tumawa ka naman.

"O, sige bakit.." I replied, trying to bite my lip from laughing even more.

There was a long silence that followed, and I couldn't help but wonder if something was wrong.

"Andiyan ka pa ba?" I asked, worry evident in my voice.

"Nakalimutan ko ang karugtong eh.."

I laughed, and so did he. Classic Alden. I wanted to pinch his cheeks so bad right now. I could imagine them turning into a shade of a red as he tried to conceal how embarrassed he was.

"Uy, at least hindi ko binasag ang pick up line mo." I said. "Ikaw ang bumasag sa sarili mo."

I couldn't stop laughing. He was just too cute.

"Pero anyway," Alden said, when our laughter started dying down. "Ang gusto ko lang naman sabihin is, katulad ka ng mga bituin sa langit dahil binigyan mo ng liwanag ang malungkot at napakadilim kong buhay." He added.

"O, ayan na siguro ang karugtong ng pick up line mo." I teased him again. His response was a simple, "Ikaw talaga." with that signature boyish laugh that I loved the most.

"Alam mo, walang araw na lumilipas na hindi kita na-mimiss." Alden said. "Excited na nga ako sa pagdating ng panahon na makakasama na kita parati.. na pagkagising ko sa umaga, ikaw ang unang una kong makikita."

I smiled as thoughts of waking up next to him flooded my mind. It would be such a good view; the sight of such a handsome man sleeping peacefully, with his arms wrapped around you.

"Good morning, Mrs. Faulkerson." Alden would utter, in such a sexy, bedroom voice. And I'd gently pull his face closer to mine and kiss him.

"Hello? Andiyan ka pa ba?"

I was daydreaming again. Nako, itong pagnanasa ko kay Alden nagiging intense na ha.

"Andito pa ako." I smiled.

"Huwag kang mag-alala. Mangyayari din yan.. sa tamang panahon."
