"We cannot miss Christmas!" Rose shouted from her room.

The Doctor smiled to himself, "We have a time machine! I'm absolutely positive we won't be late."

She shut the door behind her as walked out to the console. "Oye, the last time you said something like that, you missed by a whole year and my mum thought I was dead!"

"Okay, okay, that wasn't entirely my-" Rose glared at him. "Yes, yes it was."

The Doctor set the time making sure they would be at least 5 minutes early. He never knew what to think about Christmas, the Doctor loved it, that was for sure. But he had realized it was only good when you had family to spend it with.

"How do I look?" Rose asked smoothing her hair down. He couldn't help but smile, she wasn't wearing anything special, she was just her and she was beautiful.

"Beautiful, as always," the Doctor beamed. Rose's face turned as red as the plant she was named for.

He thought back to last Christmas, how different everything was. Last Christmas he had been unconscious for most of the time, the last bit of his regeneration keeping him down. But when the Doctor did wake up, it was indeed a very happy Christmas.

"Let's go then," she wrapped her arm through his as they strolled out of the TARDIS. It was cold, but unfortunately- no snow- not yet.

By the time the pair got to the door, both of them were freezing.

Rose knocked on the door, and when nobody answered, she knocked harder," Mum! It's freezing!"

"Sorry!" Jackie said throwing open the door. "I've been baking!" The Doctor held in a laugh, and was glad he wasn't very hungry.

He half expected Mickey to come waltzing in flirting and falling all over Rose like normal, but he was in the parallel world now. It felt like months but it had only been a few weeks since they had left Mickey in Pete's World. The thing that had most worried him was that Rose would want to stay there, that she wouldn't want to leave Mickey there all alone. The Doctor knew that if she had stayed, he probably would have never seen her again. He didn't think he could bear it.

Last Christmas it had been the Doctor, Rose Jackie and Mickey, and it was wonderful. The Doctor secretly, slightly missed him.

Rose and Jackie whisked away to the kitchen working on everything. The Doctor tried at first to help, but after being yelled at, pushed away and getting flour thrown on him, he decided maybe he would be more helpful outside of the kitchen.

He wondered the house aimlessly looking at the pictures. Several toothless Rose Tyler's and wedding pictures of Jackie and Pete peeked up at him.

There was one picture in the middle, obviously it was one of the most important. Jackie and Pete stood while Pete was holding baby Rose. The Doctor picked it up, what would it have been like it Pete hadn't died? What would Rose have been like growing up with a proper father. What would life had been like for Jackie? What would life be like if he had a proper family?

He pushed the thoughts away, it was Christmas!

Rose came out of the kitchen and found him standing in the hallway looking at the pictures. "What's wrong?" She asked.

The Doctor turned and smiled at her, "Nothing, I was just think about what it would be like to have a family?"

"What do you mean?" She wrapped her arms around his lower waist holding him close to her.

"You have your mum to come back home to for Christmas, it's just I realized I haven't had a family dinner or something along those lines in hundreds of years..." His voice trailed off, he didn't want to upset Rose.

Rose starred up at him with her big brown eyes, he could practically see her mind working on a way to solve his probably. "You have a family, right here. You're just as much apart of this family as I am. You're always got us." She beamed up him.

The Doctors hearts skipped and he smiled at her. "You always know what to say."

"Of course," she laughed playfully smacking his arm. He caught it before she could pull it away.

"Mistletoe?" The Doctor said pointing up.

Rose glanced up, and sure enough a small bundle of mistletoe with a little red ribbon tied around it hung above them.

He bent down and pulled Rose up to him and kissed her. In the back of his mind Christmas bells went of and the Hallelujah Choir sang. It didn't have to be snowing, and it certainly wasn't perfect. But it was Christmas as long as he had her.
