Brian's POV

The fucking world had gone crazy, or so it seemed to me. Everyone was off since the Alex incident. Lola was miserable and moody and I was trying to make her feel better but it just wasn't working. Sarah, well Sarah I'd never seen so angry, and believe me she was angry, we were all shocked and Zack, poor Zack wasn't even game to open his mouth anymore and then there was Matt, Matt was, well I didn't even know how to explain it. He'd been over to see Alex and he said she told him they were done, over and so he'd given up, just like that. He was pretending he was over it and he'd called me not so long ago, apparently he had a date, and this news had made Lola furious. Frankly I was over the whole fucking thing. I'd had enough of Lola's mood's and I just needed to get out of the house.

"He's a fucking prick." Lola snapped, walking back into the living room eating ice cream. "Claims he's in love with her, blah blah blah and what." She went on, looking at me. "It takes him ten minutes to get over her and start dating again?"

I looked at her and shrugged, she looked back and suddenly burst into tears.

"Oh fuck." I mumbled standing up and pulling her into my arm's. "It's okay Lola."

"No it's not Brian, it's not okay, none of this is okay." She sobbed.

And of course she was right, none of this was okay but I wasn't really sure what I could do.

"How can he be going on a date?" She wailed and I tightened my arm's around her.

"I don't know babe." I murmured, kissing her forehead.

"Would you date a week after we had broken up?" She asked, pulling back to look at me and I shook my head, of course I wouldn't. "He's an asshole."

"People just cope differently." I murmured, although I was struggling myself with the idea of Matt dating again so quickly.

"I guess." She whispered.

"Look." I said, looking down at her. "Let's forget about Matt okay? Why don't I go and get something for dinner and we can lay on the couch all night?"

She nodded, wiping her face. "Okay."

"I won't be long." I said, grabbing my key's and heading towards the door, she watched me, nodding. I knew as soon as I left she'd be on that phone to Sarah, bitching Matt out.

I got in the car and as soon as I pulled out of the driveway I knew exactly where I was going. To Alex's house. I knew she was refusing to see anybody, but maybe, just maybe she'd see me, although I highly doubted it.

I pulled up the front and looked around. The house looked deserted. The yard was untidy and Alex's car was just sitting there, it looked dirty and like it hadn't been moved for awhile.

I walked up to the door and rang the buzzer, waiting. I doubted she'd see me but the least I could do was try.

When the door suddenly opened I was shocked, but what shocked me more was Alex's appearance. She was standing there looking at me, only she wasn't really looking at me, her hair was a mess and she had an old stained shirt and a pair of shorts. The Alex I knew was immaculate, even if she was just sitting around the house.

"Alex." I said. "Alex, are you okay?"

Her eyebrows creased and she scowled. "Yes."

Her cheeks were flushed and she was pale, she really looked unwell. "Uh okay." I mumbled, the way she said yes, it was like she didn't know who I was. "I just wanted to make sure you were okay, you know."

She frowned again. "I am." Only clearly I could see that she wasn't.

"Lola misses you." I told her, gently.

She nodded, opening her mouth, then closing it again. She looked over my shoulder, staring. I looked her up and down, she really did look terrible and I noticed her hand was clutching at her stomach.

"Alex are you sure you're okay?" I asked her again.

Her eye's glanced at me quickly, before looking away. "Yes."

"Oh." I said. "Okay, well I just wanted to see of you're okay." I told her. "I don't know, maybe one day you could give Lola a call."

She nodded  but I got the impression that she really wasn't hearing me. "Okay, well see you."

I made my way back to my car and I hurried home. Something was seriously wrong with Alex, I didn't know what, I just knew there was.

"Babe." I called out to Lola as I let myself in.

She walked in, glaring at me. "Where's the food?"

"Huh?" I'd forgotten I was meant to get food. "Oh damn yeah." And she shook her head. "Lola, I, um, I called into see Alex." And she raised her eyebrow's at me. "She's not doing so well."

"What?" She snapped. "Why did you call in, she made it perfectly clear how she felt about us." She paused for a second. "And what do you mean she didn't look  good."

I shook my head, she was pretending to be all tough, but clearly the thought of Alex unwell bothered her. "She didn't look good, she looked unkempt and well like maybe she was sick."

She frowned. "Maybe I should go over." Then she sighed. "Should I go over, I mean she saw you?"

"I don't think she really saw me." I told her and it was true, Alex spoke to me but I don't know that she really knew who I was.

"Ugh, this is so frustrating." She said turning and heading into the kitchen. "Fuck."

I followed her. "What are you going to do?" I asked.

She shrugged. "I don't know, but I'm going to start by making a few phone calls then I'll go over and see Alex, make her see me." She told me. "I'm so worried about her."

I nodded, she was right. I was worried about Alex too. Something was going on and unlike Matt, Alex just wasn't able to move forward and  clearly her health was suffering.
