How to CREATE A MAIN CHARACTER
♡ ♡ ♡

How can you flesh out a character so perfectly they speak to you, further the plot, and add all the elements essential to your story.

Here is where I'll give you advice.

By the way, I'm having two updates today because I'm so bored this gives me something to do, lol.

So, question #1: What is estival for my character to make them real?

your MC must be unique.

- make your main character different from other character jn different books, with different motivations, needs, wants, and desires. Make your MC stand out, but also the supporting cast as well. They're like the icing to the cake.

make their life troubled!

- your MC must be able to roll with the punches, and you must constantly raise the stakes. Your MC is not your child, and you don't need to baby him. Think of the worst things that could happen to your MC, and a me knit happen to further the plot. No one wants to read anything about a boring character.

gives your MC faults

- no one wants to read about the character who has it all. Give them realistic flaws. Do they stumble a lot, or have a tendency to be dishonest? Make them real, once you discover what ticks them sideways.

Question #2: How can we get to know our character enough?

This is where I come in.

Ask your characters these questions to get to know the true them. As you answer, pretend you're them...be them. How would they feel? Act? Eat? What's their mannerisms?

1. What would mentally destroy your character?

2. How does your character feel about his mother and father?

3. When did your character feel completely loved and accepted?

4. What would have to happen to make your character speak out, or, defend a stranger, in public?

5. What does he lie about?

6. Does your character need friends?

7. What physical thing does your character fear most?

8. If your character could choose to spend his last day alive with one person (dead or alive), who would he choose?

9. What is his defining strength?

10. Is he able to work for someone else?

11. Does your character have a positive or negative body image?

12. Who, or what, would your character die for?

13. Does your character have a plan for tomorrow? Next week? Next year?

14. Is your character resilient enough to change?

15. What would your character think if he could see you now?

A character's personality is made up of patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviours that make him unique. These psychological personality traits remain fairly consistent throughout life.

If you want to make your characters memorable, it's a good idea to get to know them better.
