Why Me?

I was half way down the stairs when there was a small knock on the door. I wrapped my dressing gown further around me as I walked towards the door. I unlocked the door and opened it to meet some delivery guy. I shot him a confused luck as he handed me a bunch of flowers and a card. He shrugged his shoulders before walking off.

"Rude." I muttered to my self as I closed the door and walked towards the kitchen. The smell of bacon and eggs made my belly growl. I strolled into the kitchen, put the flowers and card on the table before walking over to my husband. I wrapped my arms around his waist and placed my head on his shoulder.

"Smells lovely darling."

"Thank you, Who was at the door?" He asked while flipping over the bacon. I loved watching him cook; he was so talented.

"Some delivery guy. Thanks for the pretty flowers!" I replied with a grin on my face. He turned his head to look at the flowers on the table. He looked baffled, leaving me unclear as to what was going on. I unwrapped my arms from his waist before I walked over to inspect the flowers. There seemed to be nothing out of the ordinary, that was until I noticed a piece of paper sticking out through the petals. My hands began to shake as I pulled the paper free. It didn't have much wrote on it, all it read was:

"You always look lovely. -SA" I turned round to my husband and handed him the note.

"This isn't funny. Just own up." I worriedly coaxed. He read the note over and over again. My heart began to speed up and I felt trapped. I walked over to the sofa in the living room, I suddenly needed to sit down. I heard my husbands bare feet walking towards me, I just sat with my head in my hands while silent tears ran down my cheek. He sat next to me and pulled me into a safe embrace.

"We will find whose behind this." He reassured me. It didn't help. We rang the police and explained that we thought someone had been watching me, we explained the letter and the flowers but they didn't seem to care. They told us it was a prank and to just ignore it. We went to bed that night worried and afraid; thankfully the feeling eventually passed and we drifted to sleep.

The following weeks were all different. It started with flowers and simple letters but it got more distressing as time went on. The person had started sending more gifts, longer letters and now he had sent pictures. Me and my husband sat in the living room looking at all the strange things, the police might care after they see the most recent present.

My husband was on the phone to the police explaining everything again, I kept looking at the picture and the note we had got this morning. The picture was of me and my husband yesterday, we had gone for ice cream down the beach, it was a simple picture but the way we looked at each other showed anything but simple. The picture was taken from the side, we were laughing and holding hands while eating ice cream. Even though what was captured in the picture was beautiful the thing that made it terrifying was the fact that someone had drawn over my husbands head. It was as if they had tried to erase him from the picture. The note that came with it was worse.

"You will be mine! You are not his! I will make you mine no matter what!-SA"
