Winter cuddles

As I opened the door to my home, I was immediately engulfed by warmth and cozy atmosphere of the inside. Today it was one of the coldest days in Pickering, and it was snowing very heavily outside. 

I had just returned from a tiring day at work, and I was still shivering from the extreme Canadian cold. All I wanted to do now was cuddle with my boyfriend of four years, Shawn. I took off all my winter gear, placed my boots by the door, and hung up my jacket on the coat hangar. 

I went up the stairs and to my shared bedroom, where I saw a sleeping Shawn wrapped up in our comforter in a burrito shape. I went up to him, and laid down next to him trying to cuddle up to him in the bundle of blankets.  He slowly fluttered open his eyes and smiled when he saw my face. 

"Hey, baby girl" he said as he carefully wrapped me up in his arms, and the blankets.

"Hi" I said while snuggling up into his warm chest, taking in the moment of his cozy embrace and cinnamon pine smell.

"Baby you're freezing" he softly whispered as he held onto me tighter, his embrace making me warmer by the second.

"Is that better?" he asked slightly worried, which made him ten times cuter because he was so concerned about me.  

"Very, thank you love" 

"Anything for you my darling" he said very sweetly, which made me melt at his kind and gentle words.

"How was work?" he asked softly, stroking my hair and lightly breathing on my neck as he snuggled his head into the crook of my neck more.

"It was tiring, but I'm glad it's over because I get to spend time with you" I said while yawning softly.

Shawn noticed my yawn, and he carefully brought the blankets up more towards my neck.

"Love, go to sleep you seem really tired" he spoke softly, staring into my tired eyes.

"But I want to cuddle" I whined, as he chuckled at my childish behavior.

"I'll cuddle with you, only if you get some rest" he spoke sternly.

"Fine"

I cuddled up to him and I slowly felt my eyes drooping, before I could fall asleep I heard him whisper one last thing.

"I love you baby girl"

"I love you too"
