but time flies, i've forgotten the past

but seeing you again today

brought back feelings i thought went away

i loved you, i really did

but you didn't love me back - you ran, you hid

i held myself and clutched my chest

hoping to give my heart a rest

but its beats still speed up at the sight of you

i took it as a sign, a signal, a cue -

that maybe i wasn't over us just yet

no matter how hard i tried, i just couldn't forget

it brought back the memories and pain

seeing you on that sidewalk again
