---------------------------------------
I lay in the hospital bed, friends and family around me. They came and went as I stayed. But two people always stayed: Nancy and Ren. Dan had to go to work, Jen was afraid of hospitals so she couldn't stay. Nancy was kind of mad at Mr and Mrs Jackson for letting Ellie harm me. I hated all the fuss they made. It wasn't really necessary. I'd already stayed for one night and a day. They would be letting me out tomorrow.
The final night I was there I couldn't sleep. I'd told Nancy to go home; get some rest. Ren had gone shortly after. The nurse had kept one wire on my pulse, but she said I was free to sit in the chair by my bed or to the window- no further. I didn't complain. I still felt woozy and occasionally faint. But it wasn't as bad.
I saw the blinds were up and although I usually loved the moonlight, it somehow unnerved me tonight. I stood up, careful not to get head rush and slowly wandered over to the window. I was about to close the blinds but something... white flashed across the sky. It was like a tiny wave in the night sky. I smiled. Another? Another! More and more of, what I now realised, shooting stars bounded, leaped and frolicked across the sky! It was so beautiful. I kept the blinds open and turned of my bed side lamp.
I fell to sleep watching the stars dance across the sky. They lullabyed my to sleep.

"You okay?" Nancy asked as she helped me out the car.
I nodded. "I'm fine. Don't you worry." I had refused the wheelchair saying I wasn't that bad. "You know I don't like fuss..." I kept muttering as I hobbled down the path the the front door. I heard Dan say 'She must be feeling better' and laughter. I'm glad they weren't as worried as I thought.
Later, Gabby, Ren and Lexi came to see me.
"So you're sure you're okay?" Gabby inquired. I smiled.
"Yeah, I'm sure. Don't fuss."
Lexi and she told me and Ren what had happened after we'd gone. Apparently, Beck looked guilty and kind of disappointed. Ellie was crying, which was very fake, according to the two. Rob kept giving Ellie really evil looks and so did they.
I sighed. "... I can understand why she pushed me, but I'm not sure you should gang up on her... I mean, yeah she didn't let people explain things and was way too easily jealous and sensitive, but she had a right? I mean I did like Beck: not any more. Not at all! But still." I quickly glanced at Ren who was staring at my hand.
Nancy came in, looking flustered as we asked Lexi questions about the tournaments she'd been in- even Ren.
"Uhm! Um..." Nancy looked around the room at us, before saying, "...B-Beck's here."
"What?!" Lexi and Gabby chorused. Ren bolted upwards to sit on the arm of my chair. The chair faced outside, so I hadn't a clue what was happening. Lexi and Gabby sat in front of me, on the sofa talking to me nonchalontly.
"It's okay, let him in." I said. I touched Ren on the elbow.
"Mm?" He mumbled, looking down at me.
"It's okay. Don't be so tense, just engage in the conversation. Whatever he comes to say let him say it." I studied Ren's face. "Before you rip his head off." I added, due to my observation.
Ren laughed and we heard the doors to the deck slide open. We didn't have a pool, just a garden with a small pond in, but the deck looked out over all the garden. The trampoline in the corner out of sight when you looked out from the deck.
"Hey." Beck mumbled as he stood inbetween the arm chair and the sofa. He turned to me. "Hope, I'm so sorry for not believing you. I tried to make Ellie come over here and apologise, but she wouldn't. She said... things." He winced. "And I realised what a fool I'd been." I bit my lip. For some reason when he said 'fool' it sounded like something straight out of a Jane Austen novel. "So I broke up with her." We (apart from Ren) all gasped.
"Sorry Beck." i muttered smiling, what I hoped was, reasuringly.
"she wasn't worth it." Gabby said, squeezing his elbow and smiling.
"...What they said..." Lexi added quietly. I giggled.
"...Yeah, man you um," Ren cleared his throat. "Did the, uhem, right thing." We all stared at Ren. I pretented to show off imaginary muscles.
"Hey, looky me, I'm Ren, Mr.Machoooo Maan." We all fell about laughing.
Ren glared at me. "Ha Ha." He grinned.

Later I got a phone call from Rob. Everyone was still here. I answered.
"Hey Robert." I answered in an English accent.
"What the hell." He muttered down the phone. "That's you Hope?"
"Hell yeah." We laughed. "What's up Rob?"
"Checking how you were! You are good right?"
"Yep!" I smiled down the phone. I felt the smile in his voice.
"Good. Good! Hey, um, I'm gonna tell Beck about the whole 'I'm-not-your-uncle-thing' today."
"Really? After the," I lowered my voice. "break up?"
"Mm. He didn't seem that upset; he'll be fine. Can I speak to him?" Rob replied.
"Okay. Hang on, I'll hand you over to him now." I gave it to Beck. He went down the end of the garden.
There was a pause.
Gabby cleared her throat. "So... What was that about?" I hesitated.
"...Is there any secrets you know about Rob?"
"That he's not Beck's uncle? Yes." Gabby and Ren said simultanously.
"He told Ren and me a while ago." I was shocked. I didn't know they were that close! Lexi looked kind of bewildered.
"...I did wonder why he was hanging out with a bunch of sixteen year olds..." I giggled.

Half an hour later Beck came back, a little red in the face. "Did you all know Rob wasn't my uncle?"
We looked around and nodded.
"Oh."
Gabby sighed. "Sorry we didn't tell you dude."
"Same." I muttered.
"Nah, it's okay..."
We talked for hours. But the whole time Ren didn't talk much.
A while later, I began to feel thirsty. "Hey, does anyone want anything to drink?" i asked.
"Lemonade please?" Gabby requested.
"Water for me please."
"Lemonade too, please Hopey?" Beck asked.
"Ren?"
He turned to look at me. "Yeah?"
I pressed a finger to his forehead slightly. "Anyone at home? Drink?"
"Oh.. Uh, sure! Can I have some soda water please?" I nodded. I got everone's drinks including a glass of milk for me.
"Can someone help me?" I poked my head round the corner of the kitchen door which lead to the deck.
"Sure." Ren came in picked up four of the glasses (not mine) and gave them out. He glanced at me. "Don't risk your hand okay?" He looked me straight in the eyes. I nodded.
Today... today was good. But why was Ren so... Renzo-ish?!
I was glad there was no more Ellie. But I felt sorry for her.
Would that ever happen to me?
