First 'I Love You' pt. 1

-Jack-

You woke up to find that Jack wasn't in the bunk next to you. You frowned and looked around the room full of sleeping newsboys to find no Jack. You got up from your bed to go look if he had gone downstairs, but stopped by a gust of wind.

You turned to see that the window that led to the roof was open. You quietly crept through the window and on to the fire escape. Carefully, you escalated the stairs and hear singing on the roof.

When you reached the top of the stairs, you found Jack looking at the moon absent mindedly, singing. You lowered yourself so that he couldn't see you and watched him. Looking closer, you noticed that tears were streaming down his face.

Your stomach twisted in fear as you say blood dripping from his wrist. Biting back tears, you listened to his song.

I can't spend my whole life dreamin though I know that's all I seemed inclined to do. I ain't getting any younger and I wanna start brand new. I need space and fresh air let em laugh in my face I don't care. Save a place I'll be there.

With that he took the piece of glass and proceeded to make another slit on his wrist.

"Jack!" You stopped him and emerged from my hiding place

"What're you doin' up here?" he asked his eyes filled with panic and anger

"I woke up and found you weren't there. What are you doing?!" You asked scared as You yanked the piece of glass from his hand and threw it off the edge of the building.

"It's nothing" he said looking away trying to hide his arm

"Jack, I know what this is. I've done it before." You said looking at him in the eye

"Y-you have?" he asked shocked

"See" You nodded before lifting your shirt sleeve up, showing him your scars.

"Why?" he asked

"It seemed like the best option, until I met you" You explained

"What do ya mean?" he asked as he wiped your tears away

"My life had no purpose till you came along, Jack Kelly." You smiled up at him

"Really" he asked in disbelief

"Yep, ever since you ran into me and dragged me into Medda's I've been in love with you" You smiled shyly at him

"Are my ears deceivin' me or did you just say you love me?" he smirked

"Yes I did smartass" You laughed at him

"Well I'm in love with you too" he smirked at you and kissed you gently

"Now promise that you won't hurt yourself again" you said and looked him in the eye, holding his hand

"I promise" he nodded and you hugged him

"Now lets go clean your arm up" you smiled and he kissed your forehead.

"Okay, love"

"So how's your new beau?" Your best friend (y/bff/n) asked as you two sat in your bedroom

"Oh Davey? He's brilliant" you said thinking of him

"That's it? He's just 'brilliant'?" She asked slightly disappointed in your answer.

"Shut up. But no, he's so much more than that. He kind and sweet and he protects me from those idiots at school and he just makes me smile" you said hugging your knees
