We exchanged
From time to time

I thought I knew
All I could
But you'd delight me
With more of your truth.
Bit by bit
I fell apart
As you opened to me
Your wounded heart.
Maybe just
I believed then
In the foolish possibility
Of more than friends.
With simple words
A simple start
You'll smile again
And break my heart.
