Red sat in his car, outside her house. His niece was waiting for him. He should leave, he knew it. But he couldn't, only god knows what she's going to do. Surprisingly, he found her front door unlocked. Hearing soft sobs coming from his left Red went to go investigate. He found her sitting on the floor rocking back and forth. From the angle he was out he could see her hands.
She turned around.
Red was standing there in a hoodie and jeans. "Sweetheart..." He murmured. He took a step towards her seeing what she would do.
She stood there frozen.
He took two more, no reaction. He reached her, his hands close enough to pull her into a hug. It pained him seeing her like this, because of him.
This was all his fault. He blamed himself, what a fool for leaving her.
"I'm so so sorry Lizzie." He gently took one last step towards her pulling her into his arms. She sobbed for what seemed like hours until his soft scent finally let her drift into sleep. He looked around the house until he found her bedroom. He placed her down with a pillow underneath her head, and a blanket placed over her.
"I never stopped loving you, Elizabeth." He murmured and walked out the door.
