Eugene
"Eomma!" I screamed as I burst through her front door.
"What, what, what?" She rushed into the entrance, panicking.
"Guess what?" I giggled while trying to contain my excitement. I giggle when I'm nervous.
"What?"
"No, you have to guess." I said to piss her off.
"I'm not guessing shit. You tell me, or I don't find out." She lowered her eyebrows, clearly annoyed at me.
"Taehyung asked me to marry him." I whispered as she froze. Her eyebrows raised, eyes wide and mouth slightly open.
"You're kidding?" She whispered as well, and I shook my head. "Oh my god, Eugenie! That's great! When did he propose? How did he propose? Did you say yes? Show me the ring!" My mother forced multiple questions at me, and I couldn't answer them all at once.
"Last night. I... uh... what?" I asked, baffled. She spoke so quickly that I hardly understood what she said, or remember for that fact.
"Did you say yes?" She took a step back and placed her small hands on my shoulders, looking me clearly in the eyes. That stare made me uncomfortable, because it was the stare she had when she found out about Jimin and I. Although, her lips were smiling and telling me that she was happy. I wasn't quite sure which feature of hers to believe.
"I did." I smiled, but still felt intimidated.
"Aw! I'm so happy! Show me the ring!" She lifted my hand that's meant to be occupied by the ring, and frowned when she saw nothing there. "Where is your ring?"
"He... didn't propose with one." I bit on my bottom lip and avoided my mothers gaze.
"What do you mean? How did he propose then?" She seemed unimpressed, and I sighed before telling her what happened. Her expression was blank before she let out a high pitched 'hm'.
"What? Why do you look unimpressed? Do you not like Taehyung?" I frowned, making it obvious that if she said the wrong thing, I would probably start crying.
"No, no! It's not that! I love Taehyung and you know I do, and I'm so happy for you and him, it's just..." She started trailing off, and I sent an intense look her way.
"It's just what, eomma?" I raised my eyebrows and crossed my arms.
"I don't want my baby girl to get married and move away and have kids and go traveling. You're only 20! Do you really want to be tied down at this age?" Her eyes brimmed with tears as she pulled me into a hug and held me tight. I pulled her tighter and wrapped my arms around her.
"Eomma... I'm not moving anywhere. That house will do us well for the future. It has so many rooms, that even my children's children will be able to live in it too; But don't worry. We won't be having kids anytime soon. We don't even know if we can have kids. We both still need to get tested. Also, we don't have enough money to go traveling. I just work at the cafe, and Taehyung hasn't even found a job yet. How could we possibly travel, buy a house and have kids with what we earn? The only thing we can do is have a wedding, and even that has to be small." I explained and asked rhetorically. My mother removed herself from me before giving me a sympathetic look.
"I... I'll help you pay for the wedding then... You can have a big wedding." She sighed.
"You... What... Really?" I stuttered and she nodded. Tears started coming to my eyes as I pulled her into a hug. "Eomma..."
"You're so emotional today. Are you pregnant?" She laughed as I felt her wipe away her own tears. I quickly pulled away from her and contorted my face.
