every time i hold her close, i inhale her scent. it trails her like the hem of a wedding gown, and crowns her like a queen. lavender, it's always lavender. sometimes there's a touch of cinnamon or a hint of mint, but it's clear that lavender dominates her garden of aromas.

it's fascinating how the psyche can attach memories and associate objects to ideas. sometimes it's negative, the relation, because certain scenes meld with fear.

but for me, it's completely positive that i feel intense happiness every time i catch a whiff of lavender. she doesn't even have to be there for the joy to explode inside my chest. lavender scents always cheer me up, and it's not even that the smell is especially delicious or great or anything. it's the person that has trademarked it in my life.
