"Mmm...that was good."

I had finished my lunch. I had a few sandwiches and a glass of water. So far, my classes were very interesting. I loved listening in transfiguration. It reminded me of myself changing into a mermaid but, when I was in a body of water.

Potions was okay. I hadn't had much of a problem with Professor Snape. Sometimes, I would tell him a better way of making a potion or improvise on an ingredient. He was very impressed with my knowledge. Other times, I would tell him other ingredients that he had not much information about. I knew his good side to a certain extent.

Draco would always walk me to my class. I didn't mind. I considered him a friend. To me, he appeared protective of me when Notts and other boys around me. Mentally, I knew the reason for their attraction. I still hadn't told Draco about my mermaid side.

I looked at the time. {I have time to go to the library to do homework and swim afterward before dinner.} I got up from my seat and made my way to the library. The library had a restricted area that we weren't allowed to go inside due to being restricted.

Once in the library, I walked around to find a spot to do my homework. I found a spot to sit that was near the window. Plus, it was very isolated from the rest of the library. I sat in the chair closest to the window and took my homework out of my bag.

I was working on my essay for potions. We had to write a five page paper on a potion ingredient of choice. Most students were going to write about fluxweed, knotgrass, lacewing flies, and bicorn horn. I didn't go the easy way. I wanted to write something unique.

I was writing an essay on powdered alcalor coral. I remembered reading about it in one of the mermaid books that I had brought with me from home. The coral was very rare and difficult to use in potions.

It was known for enhancing other potion ingredient's properties but, it had it's own property that varied on use. It was known for healing wounds of mermaids. In the wizard world, the potioneers used the ingredient to poison someone.

"Done," I said to myself. I finished the essay with no problem and happy about the results of my paper. I had a feeling that I was going to get a good grade on it. {This is going to gain Professor Snape's interest.}

"Hi."

I looked up from my paper to see Draco who stood in front of me. I put my essay in my bag and got up from my seat. I looked back up at him. "Hi," I said to him. "Done with potion's homework?" he asked me. "Yes. It was easy," I told him.

He gave me a smile. I returned the smile and walked around him. "Where are you going?" he asked me. I turned my head to look at him. "To my dormitory," I told him. "Can I walk with you?" he offered me.

"Sure," I told him. We made our way out of the library to the stairs. "What do you think of Hogwarts so far?" he asked me. "I think it's interesting so far. You?" I asked him. "Just like how my father explained to me," he said.

Soon, we were walking in the hallway until I heard an annoying voice.

"Drakie poo."

We turned our head to see that Pansy was behind us. Draco looked very annoyed. Soon, she grabbed his arm. "I have been looking everywhere for you," she said to him. Draco tried to get her to let go.

"Let go Parkinson. Don't you see that I'm busy," he said in anger. She looked at me. "She's not even a pureblood from what I hear from my father," she said to him. I felt myself go cold. No one except a few people knew about my blood status.

Draco looked at me. Before he could say anything, I decided to speak. "I'm going to go now. Thanks for walking me," I said quickly and walked away from him. After getting out of their sight, I ran down the hallways to my dorm.

Once inside, I set my books down on my desk. {That was too close.} I looked at the time. {I have about an hour before dinner.} I got myself a towel and made my way down the stairs. Soon, I was in the pool room.

I hung my towel and made my way to the edge of the pool. I took my shoes and socks off. I took a deep breath and put my feet in the pool. I imagined my mermaid self. Soon my body began to glow bright blue.

Soon, I had my mermaid body. I got off the edge and started to swim around the pool. It had been a while since I had transformed into a mermaid. It was very relaxing. Also, swimming was a very good exercise for me.

At the bottom of the pool, it looked like an ocean floor. Coral was at the bottom of the pool. Seaweed and kelp swayed in the current a bit. {Professor Dumbledore really did so much for me. He made me feel like I'm at home...almost.}

After thirty minutes, I got out of the pool and imagined my human self. The best thing about changing between a mermaid and a human was that I didn't have to dry my hair or my body. It was automatic. I had to dry my feet only.

I took the towel and dried my feet of water.

"That felt great," I said to myself. I felt very refreshed from the swim. {I should swim twice a week.}

I walked up the stairs and looked around my room to figure out what to do for the remaining thirty minutes. I looked over at my shelf to see my mermaid books. I hadn't completely looked through them yet.

{I should continue reading them.}

I walked over to the shelf and got myself. I reached for 'Mermaid Royal Line' by Corelia. I had never opened the book since i had gotten it from my birthday. The book was beautifully decorated with gold and jade.

I sat in my comfy chair next to the bookshelf and opened to the first page. The first page revealed a small biography of the author. I skipped through the bit to see that the biography was a few pages long. I started to read the first page.

"I, Lady Corelia, worked in service of the royal crown. My family had served the royal crown for many generations. We served the royal family as a companion and anything else that the crown need from us."

{Wow. She sounds dutiful.}

"I served Her Majesty Queen Nereida who was married to King Thaumon. Together, they had a daughter Clarissa." I was surprised. {This must be Mom and my grandparents!} In my mind, I never really heard much about my grandparents from my mother's side.

My father told me that they helped them get married and nothing else. After reading Corelia's biography, I started to read about the first ruler of the merpeople, Aegaeonus. He was born in ancient time and became king in 1 BCE or AD. He married Cetoa, a daughter of a chief in the southern ocean.

{Wow!}

I looked at the time to see that I had five minutes before dinner. "I better get to dinner." I closed the book and walked out of my dorm. I really wanted to continue reading when I got back to my dorm after dinner.
