Meet me at the café downtown at ten tonight.
Your eyes never left your unsent text. You were curled up on the couch once again, and everyone but Cas had to leave again on some sort of angelic business. Cas was in the other room, catching up on some popular movies. From the sounds of it, it was The Hunger Games. You chuckled briefly at the thought, but before you could think too much about the text, you let your finger brush the send button.
A ding let you know it sent fully, and you bit your lip, glancing up. No sign of Cas. You glanced at the time on your phone; it was barely nine. You most likely should leave in a few minutes. You'd tell Cas you needed some fresh air; your angels would probably get overprotective and edgy about this whole situation.
You could always call them if you needed them. You swallowed hard at the thought, but you also needed to remember to shield your thoughts, otherwise they might check in and discover what you were up to. They would most likely immediately pin the blame on your birth family and... You didn't even know what they would do. It had never gotten that extreme with anything.
You tucked your phone in your back pocket, and headed to your room. You checked over your outfit with a deep breath. You were dressed in dark wash jeans and a black Cirque Du Soleil t-shirt. You shrugged on a grey button up, and grabbed your wallet and keys. Even though you didn't technically have a license, somehow, you never got stopped and asked. Gabriel probably had something to do with that.
You sighed softly. Time to go.
You headed over to see Cas, and he looked up with a smile as you approached. "Hello, Y/N."
"Hey, Cas."
"Is something wrong?" He asked softly, blue eyes trained on yours as you hesitated. You shook your head.
"No, I just want to go out for about an hour." He started to get up, but you shook your head quickly again. "By myself. I just need some time and fresh air. Sorry, Cas."
His brow furrowed as he gazed at you, but then he slowly nodded. "If you would like to talk about what happened, I am here."
You smiled, and tried to remove any thoughts of what you were actually doing, certain he was reading your mind. Although you had asked your angels not to do that, they had comprised and said they wouldn't do it too often, only when they sensed you were in trouble, or when you seemed to be hiding something.
Evidently, you passed Cas' test, because he gave you a nod, and you turned to go. You knew he would actually let you have some alone time, but it was fine; your soul was branded (creepy sounding, but it actually wasn't) so that the angels could always locate you instantly, even if Enochian sigils were trying to prevent that.
You headed out to your car, a black Ford, and started it up. You headed to the diner, and parked right in front of it. Maybe some late night window shopping would help ease your nerves, so you stepped out of the truck and began wandering down the street.

The next hour, you were seated at the diner, anxiously awaiting your birth family. The very thought made nerves run through your entire body, setting it on the very edge of freaking out. You heard the bell on the door ring, and your gaze shot up.
Oh, God.
Dean and Sam had grown so much. Sam was taller than Dean, and Dean looked older than he should have. Sam was tall and lanky, while Dean was more fit and muscular. And your parents... Mary and John looked like they had aged several years. It was evident guilt had weighed heavily upon them, but nevertheless, your mother still looked beautiful, and your father still looked a bit young. And, oh God, Mary carried a new babe on her hip. He had sandy blonde and a wide grin as he chewed on her hair.
