A new villain brings madness back to Death City, strongly effecting Stein. Can Marie and the kids save him before it's too late?

Stein stood, drenched in blood, in the middle of the circle of Arachnophobia's minions. He had tried to fight free with the help of Spirit, but it was useless. Eruka appeared at the head of the group, laughing madly. Stein whirled to face her, lashing out with his scythe. She dodged the attack effortlessly. "It's no use Stein..." She smirked. He rolled his eyes and slashed again. She dodged the attack again. He grouled, an animal sound, and lunged. Eruka hit him hard, throwing him back into the circle.

Maka and Miss Marie came running into the room, having followed Stein's markings on the wall, and skittered to a stop. Stein was ragged looking, and panting for breath. Marie called to him, but he seamed not to hear. "Professor, we'll get you out of here!" Maka shouted, holding Soul up in a protective gesture. Eruka laughed at her. "If he can't kill me, there's no way you can." Maka sneered. "Try me." The two began to battle fiercely, and Marie moved to protect Stein.

Kid walked around the cave, looking for signes of life. He passed the room where Marie and Maka were fighting, but he had a job to do before he could help them. The reaper walked for nearly half an hour before finding what his father said would be there. A room with an alter. On the alter, a dead woman lay. "So you've found her huh?" A male voice whispered. Kid jumped and turned to see a man dressed all in gray, staring at him. "Who are you?" He asked quietly. "I was Medusa's lover, but that doesn't matter to you." He took a step forward. "Don't touch her. Kid looked back at the dead woman. Something about her looked familiar. "Arachne..." Kid stepped away from the table. "Yes. I'm reviving her. So go away!" Kid blinked at the man. "You're telling me your plan then telling me to go away?" The man smiled. "You can't stop me... So yes." Kid glared. "Arrogance isn't good on you." He whipped out his guns and started shooting at the man.

"Franken this isn't like you!" Marie said desperately, trying to grab his hand. He spun violently, trying to hit her. She moved out of reach. "Don't make me hurt you... Please." She whimpered. He laughed madly and tried to slash at her. Spirit screamed. "Sorry Marie!" Marie laughed despite the stressful situation. Marie ripped off her eye patch, and hit Stein with the healing magic. Maka paused to watch, which caused her a blow to the shoulder. She fell bak, knocking over several minions, and Stein lunged for Eruka. He took her down swiftly. Maka gasped and caught Spirit as Stein dropped him to run for Marie. He wrap'ped her in an embrace. "Just like old times." He whispered in her ear. "We have to help Kid!" Soul shouted. The adults separated, and Stein took Spirit back.

The man in gray put up some kind of shield, defending himself from every shot from Kid. He laughed crazily, as if Kid had no chance of hurting him. He frowned, and tried to lunge for him. He disappeared and rematerialized behind Kid, knocking him out "That was easy." The man said, and turned back to Arachne. But she was gone. Instead, Black Star stood on the table, his weapon ready. "You don't tell me to stay at the academy!" He howled, and attacked the man. Maka and Marie came running in at this pint, having left Stein in the hall to keep watch. "What are you doing here?" Maka shouted at him. Black Star grinned at her. "Doing what I think's best." He smirked, and smacked the man hard on the head with Tsubaki's chain. Marie shifted, and hit him hard. "Who is he? Is Kid okay?" Maka was freaking out, running to Kid to see if he was okay. Liz had shifted to human form, and had Kid's head in her lap. "He's breathing." She said calmly. But there was fear in her eyes. Maka realized that she loved him.
Together Black Star and Marie took the man in gray out, and Maka took the lessons she got from Miss Marie to heal Kid. He sat up quickly, startling Liz. She gasped and held him against her. Surprisingly, he didn't fight it. Patty laughed happily. "Good. Now what do we do with her?" She asked, pointing at the dead woman's body. "Take her to Lord Death." Stein said, entering from the hall. "Let's go."

The school welcomed them back cheerfully. The teachers hadn't known what to do without Stein and Marie, even though they were only gone for a day. Lord Death disposed of Arachne properly, and gave the kids a meister star each for being so successful. They were all three star meisters now.
Back at their house, Stein stared blankly into his cup of coffe Marie had made He never appreciated her doing things around the house until now. "Marie." He whispered. She came over and took the cup from him. He held her hands. "You've saved my life more than twice now... I don't know how to repay you." She shook her head. "No need to. I'm glad to help." She smiled sweetly. "Will you marry me?" He asked. She opened her eye sin shock. "You want to marry me?" She asked, her voice full of surprise. "Of course." Marie wrapped him in a hug. "Yes." She whispered. He kissed her softly. "I love you." He whispered back. They went to bed together that night, and announced the engagement the next day. Stein had never been so happy in his life.
