BEFORE
Alden's
It was around twelve in the midnight when I found Maine asleep on the couch, still dressed with her work clothes and face still covered in make-up.
I sighed. Pagod na naman ang misis ko.
Misis.
Ang sarap pakinggan. Mahigit isang taon na kaming kasal ni Maine, pero hanggang ngayon, hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala.
I knelt down beside her, the exhaustion from work is suddenly washed away from my system. Kissing her forehead, I removed the bag that was on top of her stomach. Before carrying her upstairs, I removed her heels and slung her bag on my shoulder.
While carrying her, she stirred and groaned. "Tulog lang, baby," I kissed her nose. "I love you."
I gently placed her in bed and dropped her bag on the carpeted floor, leaving her phone on the side table (in case she had set an alarm for later). I kissed her one last time before unbuttoning her blouse.
She stirred and groaned again. "Papalitan ko lang damit mo, mahal," I whispered before gently pushing her blouse off her shoulders and lifting her a bit to remove it from her back. "I love you," I pecked a kiss on her collarbone. Next was her skirt, and since it wasn't a tight little skirt, it was easy for me to slide it down her legs.
The moment I saw my wife only in her undergarments, I felt all the blood in my body run up to my face. God, she's still beautiful.
I tried to shake the intense feeling inside me (keyword: tried) and walked towards our wardrobe to grab a pair of Maine's shorts and one of my shirts. Before going back to Maine, I grabbed the box of wet wipes that she uses to remove her make-up when she's in a rush.
Kneeling on her side, I started gently removing her make-up.
"Bakit ba kasi..." I mumbled. "Ang hilig hilig sa make-up, eh maganda pa rin naman kahit wala."
After removing her make-up, I started putting her shorts on, which was a lot easier than putting a shirt on. Once I was done fixing her, I kissed her forehead one last time before heading out to the bathroom to prepare myself for bed as well. I heard a faint and muffled 'thank you' from my wife before I left the room.
Moments later, I was ready for bed. I didn't waste time before engulfing my wife gently into my arms, her back against my chest. I felt her relax under my touch. Kissing her neck softly, I whispered her goodnight and let sleep take over my body.
At exactly five in the morning, I woke up with the sound of my alarm and the aroma of food. I glanced around me and saw a tray of freshly cooked bacon, eggs and fried rice, along with a glass of juice and a note on top of the side table.
Grinning widely, I got up and read the note that had Maine's penmanship scribbled down.
'Good morning, mahal! I woke up before my alarm buzzed so I figured I had enough tome to cook breakfast for you. Tagal na din kitang di naipagluto. I love you.
Also, I prepared your stuff for work na. Check mo na lang kung may kulang pa. I'll see you tomorrow, mahal. I love you!
- Your beautiful wife ❤️'
And, God, I could almost hear her laugh while she wrote this.
I took my phone from the other side table and snapped a photo of the tray, leaving the note for my eyes only. I quickly opened my Instagram and posted the photo with the caption: "It's been more than a year now, but I still can't believe I'm married to the most beautiful and loving woman in the universe. I love you, @mainedcm! Have fun in Ilocos!"
