Oh my God, this chapter. I almost cried. (But I didn't!)

Warning: There is a mature part at the end. I'll mark it when it comes up. I feel like there's a lot of mature parts in Revenge. But then again, it's also the most mature book. Anyway.

DO ENJOY.

Yes, that's the same gif as before, but I do not care.

Chapter 37:

The next morning, everyone's in a better mood. Loki hasn't thrown me off of Fletohein for keeping Marjoy's secret. Videl and I aren't arguing. For that matter, neither are Loki and Eala. In fact, they come to breakfast holding hands. If I weren't sensitive about Eala's background, there's a solid chance I might have said something relatively suggestive. Jack and Videl look like they have the same idea, but a look from Loki shuts them up.

In what I think is a pretty pathetic attempt to earn back Loki's favor, Jack leans against one of the sun-baked rocks at the top of the canyon and says, "So what does the valiant king have in mind for the hellbent witch?"

"The valiant king doesn't have anything in mind," says Loki. Beside him, Eala rests her head on his shoulder, her red curls falling over him. He takes her hand, his fingers covering hers.

"What a relief," I say, throwing my feet up on Jack. "I was beginning to worry we didn't have a plan or something."

Loki rolls his eyes. "The fact of the matter is that we are blind to Neidra's operation. With Eala's army, our numbers are closer, but we still don't know our advantages or our disadvantages."

"Here's an idea," I say as I spot Marjoy, Lak, and Saldra walking toward us (Marjoy, to be more accurate, is skipping). "We spy on her."

"Absolutely not," says Loki.

"Absolutely yes," I say.

"Are you out of your mind, Theodora?"

"Jury's out," says Videl.

I punch his shoulder, then turn back to my father. "It's a good idea. I-"

"How in any of the worlds is spying on Neidra's army a good idea?" demands Loki.

"Because it gives us an advantage. It lets us be able to see what she's up to. At the very least it could help save our lives."

"It could also save our lives by staying in this very safe camp."

"This very safe camp was outed by a spy which resulted in one of ours being killed, not to mention lots of our plans being handed off to Neidra." I pause. "It wouldn't be hard. It's not like we've done something like this before."

"I think it's a brilliant idea," says Marjoy, settling down with a flounce next to her older sister. She lies her head on Eala's lap, knocking Loki's hand away in the process.

"Marjoy, you would think freezing the sun is a good idea," says Loki, putting his hand on her face. When she licks it, he scowls and sets it on the ground beside him.

"Don't be stupid," says Marjoy. "Freezing the sun would kill us."

"So would spying," says Loki.

"Not if yer good spies. Which, with yer history, yer not," says Marjoy.

"I am a good spy when I want to be," retorts Loki.

"He did keep Thea's parentage a secret for fourteen years," says Eala, running her fingers through her sister's wild hair.
