Hey guys! Thanks for getting me to where I am: #221 in poetry! I'm so happy and proud, you guys have no idea how much this means to me! Special thanks to AuthorXGames

Love you guys xxx

We're going out for lunch

Mom announces one morning

I freeze with her words

Like I'm naked in the snow

She says we're going to a fancy restaurant

Up at the higher class part of town

Around where she works

Because it's my second cousin is coming over she says

She is twenty-one and lives

On the other side of the world

So her visits are supposed to be 'special'

But I can't go

I won't go

Imagine the calories, the oil

The deep-frying and preservatives

No

I am not going

I am not walking into my living nightmare

For fun

Not even for my family

I'm sick I tell mom

She places a hand on my forehead

And says I'm not hot

So I should be fine

But then she looks at me

Takes in my face and bones

The bones that barely hold me up

Stay at home she says

And I know when she turned around

To face the wall

Once again

There were tears in her eyes
