I scramble up onto the top of the moving box. I don't know why but I'm overcome with the most overwhelming sense of vertigo I have ever felt.

Slowly, I push myself up onto my feet and look around. It's pitch black, and the air feels icy and still.

I wait a moment for my eyes to adjust.

I detect movement to the side of me.

An elevator? There's another elevator.

Hope fills me.

Chad?

Then as my eyes get more used to the gloom my stomach turns.

Not just one elevator.

There are thousands of them – all moving down.

As far as I can see, left and right, above and below, elevators travel down a dark elevator shaft.

I walk unsteadily to the edge.

I can't see the bottom of the shaft below me; only more elevators travelling down into a dark abyss.

It stretches for miles – a deep, abyss of nothingness. It makes me think of infinity.

Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.

I stumble backwards.

Where am I? What is going on?

Dots begin to prickle my vision and I hurl myself back into my prison – afraid I'm going to pass out over the side of the elevator shaft.

I fumble for the speaker button.

I can't breathe. How can this be happening? How can this be real?

"Chad?" I whimper quietly. "Where the hell are we?"

Then the spots overwhelm my vision.

Then darkness.
