I've never expected you to
feel the same way

as I feel for you.
Maybe it was just
wishful thinking
that led me to believe in
what I'd thought we had -
what I still do believe
we would have
if I had been any different
from the rest.
The funny thing is that
I was different -
but I chose to hide it,
to blend in with everyone else
in hopes that you would
see me there
within the crowd of
your admirers.
I'd hoped you would
fall in love with a lie
because I knew you would
never
in a hundred lifetimes
love the truth.
And the truth is this:
I am completely
and undeniably
in love with you,
Athella Halle.
I would shout it from the rooftops
if I wasn't so afraid of heights.
And though it may be wrong
for me
to love you so fervently -
for I am not
another one of those boys
who will catch
and then promptly lose your
fleeting favor -
I would never change a single thing
about how I feel.
I've loved you with the intensity
of a thousand suns
and with the luminescence
of a million full moons -
and I forever will.
I will never reach you,
distant star that you are,

to win your heart.
