AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS [2012]

FIVE SHOTS OF VODKA were lined up on the bar. One after the other, I knocked the liquor back with an expert ease before jumping over the counter to steal the full bottle. Originally, I wanted to travel to Amsterdam and explore the historical city, but I hadn't spent a night outside of 'Hellevuur.' Hellevuur — or Hellfire being the translation — was a popular club, making it hotspot for drunken teenagers. Kol and I had grown fond of the place, it was sleek and modern with dim lighting that made for a perfect kill. However, within three days, it amassed a reputation of being murder central because neither of us were willing to clean up after ourselves. Due to that, I became bored by the lack of customers. Only thrill-seeking mundanes dared attend the club now.

From afar, Kol watched as I drained the liquor, a small smirk on his lips. He was in the corner with a short little thing — a waitress according to her uniform. Once he knew he had my attention, he made an elaborate show of attaching his lips to the human's neck in a slow, seductive manner. All I managed was a half-hearted snarl because, really, I didn't mind what he did. I had no emotions.

"Kol . . ." I drawled, aware that I didn't need to shout over the electronic dance music because of his vampire hearing. "It's time we end this. I heard the cops are looking to bust our fun." I mentioned, hopping onto the top of the bar and pouring the first flammable liquid I could find onto the counter.

His expression was unmoved for he knew this already, our murder spree had made international news. "Well, the cops can't come if they're corpses." Kol suggested, his eyes brightening at the thought of another kill.

Unable to resist a meek grin, I sped over to be at his side. "As much as I love the thought of that, I'm not being sloppy. If we kill the local cops, another bureau will be onto us." I reminded him, being the more intelligent one of the two, even without my humanity. "How about we. . ." I trailed, rubbing my lips together as I caught the eyes of the waitress Kol was toying with. An idea sparked in my mind when I faced the lady. "You will go to the nearest police station and confess to the string of murders at this club. If they ask further questions, you will explain you worked at the club and drugged the victims' drinks before finishing the job later on in the night." I compelled, the woman nodding numbly as she echoed the instructions back to me.

Kol was considerably impressed by my quick-thinking, which made me incredibly smug. "I think I like this new you." He complimented, handing me a lighter that he stole from a man a night or two ago.

"Oh, I like me too." I tugged the cigarette lighter from his hand, walking back to the bar that I drenched in alcohol. "If we did it your way and killed every cop on the case, I'd go grey from how long it would take." I mocked, knowing such thing would be impossible because of my immortality. "But, my way, is quick and easy."
