Returning Treasure

I'm afraid.
If I put my heart out there will you cherish it or stomp it into pieces?
Will you lavish it with affection or toss it to the wolves?
Can I trust you with something so fragile to me?
I'm afraid.
Yet why should I fear?
If you don't want my heart, you will return it in its best condition.
Really, I should just say thank you.
