Wednesday, May 23rd // Cameron's POV
I heard the loud sound of a door slam shut, and I looked outside my window to see Jay locking her front door. I walked outside and watched as she walked down her driveway and waved at me with a smile. "What're you up to?" I asked, it was almost a routine, asking her where she goes.
"I have a photo shoot," she replied, rolling her eyes as she stopped and faced me.
"Really?" I asked, watching as she nodded her head. "Do you mind if I come? I've been looking for another modeling job," I asked, hoping she'd say yes, because it's true, I do need a job since I moved here without one, but I also just wanted to spend time with her. "Gimme one sec," I added, running inside and slipping on a shirt and my Nike slides after she nodded her head.
I came back out and hopped in the passenger seat as she switched the radio to a new station. "So, you and Sam huh?" I asked, watching as she smiled to herself and looked over at me.
"Yep," she replied, popping the p as she stared straight ahead at the road. "How are you and Alyssa?" She asked, looking at me with her eyebrows furrowed.
"We broke up," I said with a shrug, because I could honestly care less.
"I'm sorry Cameron," she breathed out, looking over at me with a sympathetic expression.
"I broke up with her," I assured, gazing at her, my eyes firm.
"Why?" She asked, taking a left turn into a private neighborhood with a private beach.
"She's not what I wanted," I admitted, admiring the large houses of this neighborhood. "But what I want isn't an option right now," I added, watching as she bit her lip, probably knowing it was her I was talking about.
"Oh."
I watched in adoration as she ran a hand through her long blonde hair and laid her hand on her leg. I wanted absolutely nothing more than to just smash my lips against her little pink ones, I wanted that feeling back.
The feeling I can't and could never get from anyone else, the feeling of love, comfort and affection. God, I need that feeling back.
I was ripped away from my thoughts when we pulled into the driveway of a large estate on the beach. "Ready?" Jay asked, getting out of the car and looking at me through the window.
"Yep," I replied, shutting the door and walking around, fighting the urge to grab her hand, technically a natural instinct.
She walked up the driveway and up the front porch steps, knocking on the door lightly, only to be opened by a photographer in what looked like his mid-twenties.
"Oh hey Jay," he greeted, opening the door as we walked inside, the floor covered in wires and camera equipment all over the place. "Who's this?" He asked, referring to me as he shut the door.
"My friend Cameron," she said with a shrug as a middle aged woman walked in and grabbed Jay. "Bye Cam," she said with a chuckle as she got dragged to a different room.
"Hi, I'm Derek, nice to meet you," he said, shaking my hand firmly. "Do you model?" He asked, looking at me with an intrigued face. "We've been looking for a new male model, would you like to test a shoot?" He asked, not giving me a chance to respond.
"Sure, I actually modeled for a photographer named Bryant, when I lived back in New York," I replied, watching as his eyes widened.
"Were you the guy on the cover of teen vogue last month?" He gaped in disbelief. I nodded and watched as he grabbed a nearby notepad and pen, looking straight up at me, looking accomplished. "Do you mind if I have your information? We could use a model like you to promote our photography," he added.
"Yeah yeah, of course, I'm actually looking for a job right now so if you have any openings, I'm up for it," I replied, taking the notepad from him and writing down my number and email.
"Alright, you can test a shoot once Jay's done, but until then you can just watch, if you need a drink or anything, feel free to get one from the fridge," he finished before walking away. "Jay's shoot is in the backyard by the way," he added, pointing toward the sliding glass door.
I thanked him before going outside and taking a seat on one of the chairs on their large patio. The backyard had a big pool and hot tub, and from what I could see, there was a little trail that led to the cove.
I stood up and grabbed a coke from the mini fridge before sitting back down. "Ready?" I heard, turning around to see the middle aged stylist waiting for Jay.
I watched in complete awe and astonishment as Jay walked out, the multicolored rip-curl bikini going well with her toned skin and her long blonde hair looked wavy, they must've styled it.
"Just do what feels natural," Derek said, holding a camera, along with a few other photographers.
"Okay," Jay said with a shrug as she walked down the three stairs separating the patio from the pool area.
She looked at the camera with a smile and ran her hand through her hair, then walked over to the railing that separated the yard from the steep cliff where the ocean rests beneath, and leaned her elbows against it, looking out.
"Yes," Derek said, getting the picture and showing it to her. "That was wonderful, I'll send these to you," he added, smiling over at her.
"Can you send them to me?" I asked Jay after Derek had finished. She nodded and gave me a smile before looking a mischievous look.
I laughed as she ran to pool and did a cannonball, coming up like a mermaid. It was crazy how the photographers just kind of swarmed around her and took tons of pictures.
"I think we have all the pictures we need," Derek said, looking over at me now. "How about you two shoot together?"
"I'd like that," I said, smiling at Jay before being pulled away by a male stylist. He handed me a pair of rip-curl swim trunks and left the room so I could change into them.
"So I'm thinking, Cameron, you lift Jay over your shoulder and run into the pool," Derek said, getting his waterproof camera from his case on one of the tables after I walked out of the dressing room.
"Okay," I obeyed, walking towards her, wrapping my arms around her waist and lifting her above my shoulder. "Ready?" I asked, gripping her legs tightly so she wouldn't fall.
"Mhm," she said with a chuckle. I started to run and I heard her start giggling, until we hit the water. I wrapped my arms around her waist as we came back up and watched as she leaned her head back in laughter.
"You guys are so cute," Derek said, helping us out of the pool and giving us towels.
"I'm gonna go change," Jay announced awkwardly, walking inside and leaving me alone with Derek.
"You love her."
"Is it really that obvious?" I asked with a sigh as I looked down at the trim on the swim trunks.
"Yes."
