"Aw!", I yelled as Jordan hit against my chest and I hit my head on a metal floor.Jordan groaned raising head shaking it. I stared at him.
"Everyone alright?", asked my father loudly standing up. Everyone, children, mothers, fathers, grandmothers, teenagers, those of us who were alive were here. My brother Sammy stood holding Hannah.
"Sammy thank god!", cried my mother.
She frowned hitting him upside the head seeing Hannah without a shirt. A mother's sixth sense. Sammy stepped back and my mother saw a blanket pulling it off the shelf giving it to the embarrassed Hannah who was half exposed now to the entire commune. My father shook his head chuckling for a moment.
Eliza was sobbing and Anna opened her eyes staring at us in the back of the crowd. There were about only thirty of us. Before there had been much more. I stood up looking back. A wave of relief went over me and Marry rushed over to her little Eliza sobbing. Everyone, even me was half confused and perplexed with emotions of sadness and anger.
I looked around at the metal encased room where we were all cluttered inside. It was already getting stuffy. I could still hear the explosions in the distance behind the metal casing. Where were we?
"Kurt! Hey! Kurt! Leave my son alone!", yelled my father pulling Kurt back who was throwing a fit.
I turned staring as both men began to yell at each other.
"He fucked my daughter! I thought your son had more brains than you!", yelled Kurt pushing my father back trying to make space. But my father wasn't to be messed with.
"Dad stop! We didn't do anything!", cried Hannah clinging to the blanket backing away into Sammy's arms. It was a lie but.
"Shut up!", yelled Kurt back to his daughter pointing at her.
"Kurt stop it!", yelled his wife Marry. Kurt was getting rallied up and angry.
"Shut up! Your supposed to be on my side with this you bitch! And you!", he pointed at my mother. "You should keep your family away from mine! You only bring fucking trouble every time!", he hissed.
My father swung his fist slamming it into Kurt's cheek. He then grabbed his coat slamming the older man into a shelf making it clatter. Then he threw him over boxes and sealed cases. People pulled their children crying and made space as my father went at him.
"Don't you dare speak to my wife that way! Don't you dare speak about my family like that! You aren't the innocent one here! So keep your damn trap shut! And if you got something to say you say it like a man! Your a fucking disappointment!", yelled my father grabbing his scruff and hit him again.
"Shut up! You don't know anything old man!", yelled Kurt punching my father in the chin.
Sammy moved lunging but my father pushed him back shaking his head. He was going to deal with this. Jordan stopped me as I wanted to do the same thing. But my father swung drilling his knuckles into Kurt's gut.
Kurt pounded his back, "Your family brought this on us! Your family came and they followed!", yelled Kurt hitting my father's back.
My father tossed him again this time harder and Kurt stumbled falling and knocked over some of the crates and a mother pulled her child out of harms way scooting back as far as she could. My father went over and hoisted Kurt up and wrapped his arm around Kurt's neck and slammed his weight down onto the ground holding him there pulling tightly. My father wasn't going to kill him. But he was going to make him realize what an idiot he was.
"Stop! Stop!", cried a voice. An African woman tried to pry my father off and began to hit him.
"Stay out of this Karen!", hissed Kurt managing just barely to glare at her and he struggled to breath.
Why the hell was this old man beating him?! A man who was nothing but a deserter! A man who left the army for his own family! Who left his brothers and sisters abandoning them?! Then when Kurt came back proud he just....he just....shook his head at Kurt. Kurt jabbed his elbow into my father's rib. My father grunted pulling harder. He didn't care if he was getting killed at.
"Dad!", yelled Sammy tossing some sort of cuffs.
My father caught them and slammed them onto Kurt's wrist and then slammed the other side onto a pole and it zapped shut the bolts clinking and humming. Kurt pulled trying to snap them and get out of them. Spit was flying from his mouth.
"Get back here you coward! You deserter!", hissed Kurt.
"Deserter?! You were the one who has cheated on your wife! I never deserted my family! You did! If it's anyone who left their family it was you!", yelled my father.
Marry swallowed. She had known for quite a long time that Kurt wasn't satisfied with her anymore. But she just dealt with it. But now her children were hearing it. And that's why she never told them. Because she never wanted them to know. Now though, hearing it from someone she knew well.....one who knew her husband well......it pained her. But she kept a straight face.
"Mommy....what does he mean?", asked Eliza sobbing and holding Sunny.
"Shh...shh.... it's okay sweetie...", soothed Marry stroking her child's hair. Hannah had Sammy holding her. Her family was dismembered and ruined now. But in truth.....everything was ruined.
All over again.
